The BDI does not reflect market fundamentals

It has been skewed by the fact greek shippers overbuilt in the 2006-2008 period then used death spiral financing to attempt to avoid bankruptcy

None of these indices seem to have any impact on reality, or reality seems to have no impact on the money markets, we livein strange times, and the weirdness seemsto go forever with no end in sight.

if you just want to feel gloomy, thats cool, and you can use the BDI to support your position

if you want to take a position based on the BDI, then you are losing money

as my first boss used to say: do you want to be right, or do you want to make money?

I'm not sure what the purpose of this thread is

If it is to reflect angst, thats one thing. If you are trying to determine a direction against which you can take a financial position, then I'm not sure its going to achieve the goal you desire

This chart s so obvious, yes we are on a brink of economic collapse and this chart is comfirming it, whether you like it ornot.

The BDI is just a price Index. It was as low as now at the beginning of the year and meant absolutely nothing.

Pointing to the BDI for economic doom is like pointing to the S&P and say: "look the S&P is at years high, the economy must be good"!
