BoxerLvr User ID: 889193 Puerto Rico 09/08/2012 07:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hey bot, you are talking about scientific stuff explanations, whatever Quoting: DUCM900 and you are unable to post a scientific formula of your BS claims... just blablabla Here your formula - do the math by yourself: Angular rate of rotation = (angular rate of rotation of the earth * cos(latitude)) * cos(Az) / cos(Alt) (Reference: Meeus "Astronomical Algorithms", 1991) . I know that the static stars on our latitudes looks like spinning in the sky in about 90 degrees per 8 Hours, that's field rotation. The moon is not a star, it moves around the earth, so we have 1 object (the Moon) orbiting another object (the Earth). Exactly. Exactly wrong. "Field rotation affects: The Moon - all the surface features rotate about the centre smearing all of them" and "Field Rotation causes any objects anywhere in the sky to seem to rotate around the centre of the picture" [link to calgary.rasc.ca] Last Edited by BoxerLvr on 09/08/2012 08:06 PM It is precisely because it is fashionable for Americans to know no science, even though they may be well educated otherwise, that they so easily fall prey to nonsense. IF the Moon's orbit were the same every night then it would appear the same every night. The orbit though has the Moon move from its furthest North to its furthest South and back EVERY MONTH. It CAN'T look the same every night. |

[link to en.wikipedia.org] As noted in the article linked above, it says that wet moons are most common in January - February. Now look at those two upside down moon threads in your signature. Ok, I've just find it: [link to aa.usno.navy.mil] that's the moon how it must look like on our latitude (a bit rotated during rise/set but not really noticeable). Since about 4 years ago (middle-late 2007) it was always in that position, on a pretty stand up shadow all the night. So yes, actually I have to said that our moon is in a wrong configuration. However this does not means that we are ***** SO don't worry Last Edited by IWASTHERE on 09/08/2012 10:04 PM |

Guys please forgive me, like I said I didn't pay attention in school. Now I wished I had... So if I'm way off base, just consider the source. I was reading your comment below. It made me think, why would it change over night. Why last night would it be cut off in the upper right hand corner and tonight NOTHING! Then I asked myself: "What would it take to cut off the corner as we saw last night". If the sun is directing its light past the earth and onto the moon, it would be like it always is. BUT IF there was an object in the way, between the sun and the moon, it could make the corner of the moon become as we saw last night. Now where would that object be, close to the sun, close to the moon, or close to the earth...That I do not know, and what would this object be? That I don't know either. The moon here has risen about 3 hours ago and is still on 11/4 configuration. It was as described in Seattle 4.00 am here in Australia, still in the sky it is now back to normal. |
