Actually the reason was that Iraq was in violation of UNSC resolutions. They did also possess several hundred tons of Yellow cake uranium which was later sold, removed/flown to Canada. The real reason though?....Saddamn was shooting at our planes in the no fly zone for years, was offereing money to various terrorist type douchbags and generally being a pain in the ass. Another UN resolution after the invasion did recognize the US and the UK as legitimate occupying powers under international law...but really all that is semantics and not much else.

Dont understand what you are confused about. Im what most people call a liberal, even though if Im a Dem, its a blue dog. I supported the war in Iraq initially also, even though I was well aware of the problems that SHR only later came to realize. So in a way that makes me worst than him. But he is correct, the military is not UNICEF or the Peace Corps. When we send them into harms way, it should be to accomplish a clear military objective. Not to implement government, or administer law and order. Thats not their purpose, and using them for that purpose puts American lives in danger.
