All China needs to do is send a couple missiles with some EMP nukes in a couple container ships to Mexico, bring em up to the border and fire em up in the sky. Wait 6 months, most of us would be dead. An invasion wouldn't be hard then and any american forces off mainland wouldn't know who sent the nukes and would probably believe it was al-quaeda anyway.

Nobodies even talking about hardening our electronically dependent society from EMP. I do realize the cost would be too much. So it is a real catch 22 for everyone and one the biggest holes in our defense.
