It's a lot more difficult to buy land and live off the grid with all our stupid local council laws. They're nazis.

No one owns anything in today's America.. you're all just renters... Even if you PAY OFF a house, you have property tax, and if you dont pay that, they take your paid for house.. lol.. but keep chasing that carrot.

I would set soemthing like that up to ALWAYS be able to function without any type of services from any utility co.

This is true,if i went this far i would have all running off solar/wind power,also make sure the land you buy you have water rights.

several years ago I was looking online at a cabin on top of a mountain in WV. Property tax's were $17 for 6 months. I emailed the real estate agent and she confirmed it. $34 a year property tax's. I decided against it. The cabin was to big. High ladder work on the sides. I'm to old for that crap....

years ago I saw a story about the poor rural Chinese who used methane generated from their own sewage as a source of fuel to run all sorts of equipment and to cook with. They somehow ran pipes into the sewage pit that naturally creates methane and used the gas..

what about water ? cheap land usually have no water...or too deep to dig a well.

Just buy one of those systems like ecoloblue to produce water from air. But the water system has to the be the solar model.

To have a well & septic system you have to have at least 3 acres. Locate in a state where there's no property taxes and you will eliminate that small yearly fee.

There's a way to get around zoning laws in Indiana if you know the secret. It's call the Log Cabin Law. You or a volunteer have to do 65% of the work. You can easily find this law by typing in either Indiana Log Cabin Law or Indiana Log Cabin Rule. Not going to say which county, but my mom worked for the county planning commission for 39 years. They try to find ways to get around this law. Sometimes the electric company will refuse to hook you up without a permit, but if you plan on being completely off the grid then there's no problem.

The bigger the house, the more useless shit you have to buy to fill it. We used to live in a large house and I don't ever want another one. You spend too much time taking care of it, when you could be spending that time outdoors gardening, etc.
