"Once again Jesus began teaching by the Lakeshore"... seems like He's been doing this on a regular basis.

"He taught them by telling many stories"...probably preached for a while once He got started.

"Listen"... A Command

"He scattered it across His field"... The world belongs to the Lord.

"Later when Jesus was along with the 12 and others 'gathered around Him'"

"You are permitted to understand the secret"... Why

"Parables" are for the "outsiders"

‘When they see what I do,
they will learn nothing.
When they hear what I say,
they will not understand.
Otherwise, they will turn to me
and be forgiven.’

Then Jesus said to them, “If you can’t understand the meaning of this parable, how will you understand all the other parables? 14 The farmer plants seed by taking God’s word to others. 15 The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message, only to have Satan come at once and take it away. 16 The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. 17 But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word. 18 The seed that fell among the thorns represents others who hear God’s word, 19 but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life, the lure of wealth, and the desire for other things, so no fruit is produced. 20 And the seed that fell on good soil represents those who hear and accept God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted

The "seed" is God's Word. The "footpath" represents the 'brood of vipers' and all those who belong to satan. That is why he easily steals it away. The people represented by rocky soil are shallow. When the going gets tough they will quit. The Thorny people allow other desires to supersede God's will for them.

"Listen"... A Command

"He scattered it across His field"... The world belongs to the Lord.

"Later when Jesus was along with the 12 and others 'gathered around Him'"These people had accepted Jesus as the Messiah. They wanted to be trained by Him and implement what He was talking about.

"You are permitted to understand the secret"... Why? These people had humbled themselves before Jesus and asked for forgiveness for all of their sins. Therefore, they are friends of God. God is now happy to share His secrets with them.

"Parables" are for the "outsiders"

‘When they see what I do,
they will learn nothing.

they will not understand.

It seems clear that those who love evil are not allowed to recogonize God or benefit from what He has to give.

31 Then Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see him. They stood outside and sent word for him to come out and talk with them. 32 There was a crowd sitting around Jesus, and someone said, “Your mother and your brothers are outside asking for you.”

33 Jesus replied, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” 34 Then he looked at those around him and said, “Look, these are my mother and brothers. 35 Anyone who does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”

WoW... We are brothers and sisters of Almighty God !!!

Wow, Wow, Wow!!!

What you missed was the One Little Witness Jesus Makes above that "those Who Do The Will Of MY Father" are HIS Brother and Sister.

Might look at the same incident from Matthew 12:

46. While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.
47. Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
48. But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?

49. And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

50. For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Very much the same Witness in Matthew 7:21 where Jesus Witnesses HE ONLY KNOWS those "Who Do The Will Of My Father Which Art In Heaven".

Consider that Jesus Also Witnesses
"Marvel not that I say unto you, Ye MUST Be Born-Again!" in John 3:7

My witness to you readers here is that The Only Way you can be Born-Again, is to make your surrender Unto The Father and Recieve "A New Heart" Of HIS Flesh

Ezekiel 36:26 Witnesses this, and verse 27 Witnesses The Born-Again Life:
26. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
27. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

Knowing God's Will, Doing God's Will, living w/o sin
Such is The Father's Witness. This is what HE Wanted to Do For Israel. They spurned HIM.

Jesus Gave HIS Life To Enable your ability to Come Unto The Father.

"No man Cometh Unto The Father But BY ME!", Sayeth The Lord.

If you want to see Jesus' Witness of HIS People Living Together With HE And The Father, as HE Abides In-HIM; read John chapter 17. Jesus' Prayer/Witness To HIS Father, For The Remnant...

Have you made your surrender?

If you intend to try and "teach", Once-for; REALLY OUGHT lose the paraphrased Bible versions that exist only so some group could get a copyright and profit from God's Word.

King James Version is much more elegant and potent, but that is my witness....

St. Paul also Witnesses to Timothy in 2nd epistle 2:6 that those who would preach/teach/minister (labor in God's Vineyard), "Ought FIRST BE Partakers Of The Fruits"; meaning they ought be Born-Agains and have Relationship With HIM thereby Be Given To Know "All Things"...

St. John writes in first epistle 2:20: "I write to you not because you do not Know, but Because You Have An Unction From The Holy One and KNOW All Things".

Do you Know Matthew ch 22: verses 1-14? Parable of The King's Wedding Feast For HIS SON? It is another Witness By Our Lord that God only Knows them who have a Wedding Garment; a Born-Again Heart...

1. And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,
2. The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,

3. And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.
4. Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.
5. But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:
6. And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them.
7. But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.

8. Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.
9. Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.
10. So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.

11. And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:
12. And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
13. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

14. For many are called, but few are chosen.

The same Witness Given above as in Matt 7:21-23, and Luke 13:22-29: "You MUST Be Born-Again" if you would have Relationship and Abide With God...

For many claim to Love and Know Jesus, but only few have taken action and given their lives Unto The Father, thus chosen to make their surrender and allow God To Give them HIS New Heart Of Flesh...

If you're gonna teach, really ought Know what The Gospel is really about and have that Unction From The Holy One which means you are A Partaker Of The Fruits...

Re: Build -A- Teaching: Gospel of Mark Chapter 4 [ Page 2 ] Parable of the Sower {{What Excuses}} ???
Here is Jesus' Witness as to why HE Teaches using parables:

10. And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

11. He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
12. For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

13. Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
14. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

15. For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed;

lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Ties-in very closely with "For many are called, but few are chosen" Witness of ch 22:14 previously cited.

Love Jesus?
Know WHO HE IS?
Then, The Father Has Called your heart; Invited You To HIS Wedding Feast For HIS SON!

Have you answered HIS Call?
Can you Trust HIM Fully with every aspect of your life and surrender your self-will and control of your live Unto HIM?

Jesus Has Made Our WAY Unto The Father, but up to you to manifest your heart, Lift-up The Son Of Man (john 3:14) and take action!

Surrender is The Way Unto God's Victory!
All comes down to your heart and whether you really Trust God all the way...

Can't Hear God's Call?
Then your heart is Waxed-Gross; Blocked...

Jesus Defines Witness in John 3:11
"We tell you what WE Have Seen & Know, yet still you receive not OUR Witness"...

Until you are Born-Again, Have Received God's New Heart and Been Enabled To Know and Do HIS Will, you have nothing to witness.

"Marvel not that I say unto you, Ye MUST Be Born-Again!"

Consider that this citation above, John 3:7, is The Only time Jesus uses "must" as an imperative.

Are you Ezekiel 36 Born-Again?

These are The Final Moments. If you would Be HIS, NOW Is the time to Tell HIM so...

Maranatha!!!

Once-For,

"The cross of love"???

Might revisit the accounts of Jesus' Suffering In The Garden of gaethsemane. Jesus sweated blood as HE Asked The Father for "another way" Twice HE Asked.

Only When HE Surrendered Unto HIS Father's Will did the angels come minister to HIM...

The cross is dirty, rotten, and hateful.

Jesus Loves The Father, thus Did HIS Will.
But HE Asked for "another way"...

What really was Jesus' Suffering?
HE Bore all the sin of the world past, present, future on HIS Shoulders.

God The Father Cannot Look Upon sin.
Jesus Was Cut-Off from Conscious Contact With HIS Father, thus HIS Calling-out "My God, My God; Why Have Thou Forsaken ME!"

Were you Born-Again for some while, you would understand...

Jesus' Suffering was so much more than the physical tortures HE Experienced. Being Cut-Off From The Father was the real torture.

I have experienced this to a much lesser degree.

God Anointed me to witness in 2004. For exactly 40 days and 40 nights I was on-fire writing witness, calling out to those who might accept The Gospel. Wrote my last witness, here, on the final hour of the 40th nigh and went to bed. Woke up and no words would flow. I realized things had changed and was very distraught for several hours. Can merely imagine how Jesus Felt, Knowing HIS Father Was no longer With HIM...

Mark Chapter 4 --> Parable of the Sower

What excuses do people make for not following Jesus???
 Quoting: Once4All

Jesus didn't Give HIS Life so anyone "could follow HIM".

HE Gave HIS Life To Enable your ability to Come Unto The Father...

HE Suffered Deprivation Of God there on the cross. Like not being able to breathe. Having God With you is more important than breathing, If you are HIS...

Jesus Made Our Way Unto The Father possible.

It is up to each Christian to make their surrender and Answer God's Call...

Every Born-Again day has been millions times better than even my best days devoted to self.

No worries, no anxieties, no fears. Even what comes to us in negative guise proves to be for our benefit... Trust God's Will To Always BE Perfect!

Not to rain on your parade, but have you ever thought of taking action For God? Seeking The Father in quiet prayer, opening up your heart Unto HIM and pouring it all out? Love HIM enough to Trust HIM Completely and surrender all you have and are? Doesn't take long, and rather than an ordeal it is an unburdening. Not really any wrong way to give HIM your life, just Acknowledged Jesus, Admit & repent of your sins, By taking action, you're Claiming your share of HIS Infinite Mercy & Grace. Giving HIM your surrender is the easy part. Only HE IS Worthy of everything! You give up your good and bad features, all that is you into HIS Control and Guidance, seeking only to Do and Live According To HIS Will from then on. Ask HIM To Send HIS Holy Spirit to Guide you... HE Will if you are sincere.

Following Jesus means you come to this point where you surrender your all Unto The Father. It is The WAY HE Gave HIS Life To Enable. If you would Be HIS, this is HIS Way...

Christianity Explored - what's the best news you've ever heard. Handbook.
Section 1 - 7.
Mark.

Student: "I'm noting how you seem to take everything literally and make sure to only focus on certain verses. "

Teacher: "Yes, but do you have any questions? and before we move on to section 5?"

Student: "Yes, I have plenty but there isn't enough time to discuss them freely."

Student to himself: "So I'm 'learning' your way... but feel the teaching is 'caged in'."
