What constitutes what drugs are good and bad, I'm sure you drink. Alcohol cause more domestic violence and over doses than all illegal drugs combined. Marijuana doesn't cause violence, I've never heard of someone smoking too much pot and beating their wife. I have heard about people drinking 5 pints and glassing someone in the face though.

If you want proof look at portugal, a few years ago they decrimalized all drugs and everything is down, addiction rates, violence, the whole lot.

Don't bring up Portugal with me. Alchol is a LEGAL substance and look how wide spread that is used. If people were smart they would not take recreational drugs in the first place. The government needs a whole new approach to tacking recreational drug use but not by legalizing it. Most people in jail are there because of a drug habit so government needs to sort out an effective rehabilitation plan., and not send the wrong message to children that drugs are ok, they are legal now. They should never be legal. Ever.

Jails are full because of the illegality of drugs (duhhhhh) and almost 90% of all inmates in jail for drugs are there for sale and possession, 10% are there for violent crimes whilst on drugs.

Alcohol and cigarettes are legal and they kill far more people than all the other (non-prescription) drugs combined. So many illegal things are infinitely better for us than their legal counterparts. The law isn't there to protect us at all, it's there to protect private interests. Prescription drugs and junk food are legal and yet they kill thousands. Weed and XTC are too useful and beneficial (when not abused) to ever be made legal :-P

If you want to talk about fatalities then look no further than the two main legal substances, alcohol and tobacco.
Easily the two biggest killers in Australia. Ecstasy the drug in question kills less people a year than coffee, way less. If it was just MDMA in the pills, it would kill no one. Again that's another point for legalization, if it was legal what goes in would have to be regulated, thus safer.
