Oooh that crystal blue persuasion.
Has anyone ever done the blue meth?
 Quoting: Heisenberg 18058215

Reminds me of a an article from the Rotten Library a few years back (which is not an entirely accurate or truthful source, btw ;p]...

...unscrupulous dealers sometimes add food coloring to their stash, either to disguise their amateur technique or to peddle their warez more effectively.

RED: Meth was made from pseudo-ephedrine, and the red coloring of the original tablet was not adequately washed away.

ORANGE: Ephedrine sulfate was used, and a portion of the sulfate was reduced to sulfur.

PURPLE: Iodine from a phosphorus-iodine reaction was not washed out.

GREEN: Copper or other metallic salts made their way in to the mixture, probably due to the reaction vessel.

BROWN: Oxidized red coloring or tablating agent was present in the reduction.
 Quoting: Rotten Library

The thought of all these potential variables in a drug that has been reduced to crystal form and is meant to be smoked or injected is enough to make me weary of ever using crystal meth, even if I'd stumble upon it for free.

Not related except for being the most sarcastic/ironic line in the same article cited above
Who wouldn't want to use it? You lose weight and you have great sex.

Hype?

Not at all, come down south. Crankheads and tweakers become some of the most evil and selfish people you will ever meet.

My dad was addicted to this shit. Its poison, it totally destroyed our family.

If I had my way, users and dealers would be interred in death camps.

In the south we have all this room to grow trees and plant shrooms, but everyone's cooking crank in their garages.

It's a terrible drug. And you feel like superman when you're using so you don't notice that you're becoming a terrible person.

BTW, that video was aired in 1996 if I'm not mistaken, so maybe it's entirely different nowadays.

Perhaps the real problem is that all people are open to any number of thousands of different addictions, from deadly to benign.

What is very sad is the low rates of successful treatment.

If the government had any sense they would give it away, free for the asking.
It would be much more efficient than thier current methods of culling.

Re: Meth/Amphetamine Epidemic mostly Hype?
I've never came across a person high on meth (here in Canada) that doesn't become at least slightly more empathetic while in the throws of their high. Granted, it's the ensuing looooows that can bring out the worst in addicts, though reports of people caught committing crimes while twitching and gacking with their eyes glazed over in the midst of a binge as often reported in the states is a virtual non-occurence here. Illicit drug synthesis is bound to vary greatly between chemists/regions, though the even bigger variables in user effects and behavior between the spans of a certain drug and different drug-using cultures is enough for making a case about possible fundamental differences in the who/what of Meth in the U.S. Idol1

Go to Walmart at 3 am sometime, there is an epidemic.

The real problems begin when they won't sleep for days. Then they get very weird.
