You all have seen Khan academy on 60 minutes right? look it up. online teaching costs nothing,and is better than in class. also MIT has opened their courses to the public.

I wonder if pay is the issue here. Frankly, im sad to hear everyone whine about how the teachers are the problem. Consider the class sizes, the hours, the prep, the mismanaged kids at home, detention, harassment, homework not done, therefore no advancement in the classroom. To add to this ridiculous list, consider being terrible in math, and are a french teacher, yet to complete the year, the school tells you that you are now a physics teacher. Does that make sense to you? no? well good, it seems you graduated from common sense 101.. This bump is valid, since it has happened to me, my mom and my wife. All of whom, are professional teachers with a will to have those little bastards learn something. So get off our backs already, because YOU DONT HAVE THE FULL PICTURE, AND YOU NEVER WILL!!! (until you become a teacher)

Oh and eff all of you that say, aww you get paid vacation. Thats horse poo.. our salaries are 9 months paid, divided into 12 months. So we can pay our retarded walmart bills

Do you live in Chicago? it says you are from France, well I am a native born and raised in Chicago and went to Chicago public schools my entire school life and I will tell you this...these lazy sob teachers are nothing but overpaid scum who don't deserve one single penny.

I had 1 teacher who I adored. He was in his 60's in the late 1980's 6th grade teacher and the best I ever had.

my 8th grade art teacher stole my artwork and took credit for it, imagine being a 14 year old and seeing your work in the Chicago public library on display and your teacher reaping the benefits. that bitch.

during my 8th grade graduation two 8th grade female teachers got into a fist fight while we were walking down to accept our diploma...there's a memory

The test scores are HORRIBLE, they didn't care in the 80's and 90's, I doubt they care now.

It's bullshit, I hate when these pricks come on here and try to defend these so called teachers and by assuming they are like the "teachers" they know.
I now live in the suburbs of Chicago and I looked up the salaries of the teachers here, they make half of what those losers in Chicago make and they are content and way better then those jack asses will ever be.

Yep it is unfortunate that parents have to slave so hard they do not have the time to spend with their kids. Instead, they have to give up their kids to the state indoctrination system, where they will learn to respect authority and learn only what the system wants them to learn.

Fuck these teachers... they are nothing but overqualified baby sitters.

But you don't need to pay that person $76,000 per year for basic subjects that most adults know.

That is because ( using a Vet as an example here ) if someone kept bringing in horses, they had neglected, the vet can refuse service or report to authorities. Teachers don't have this option unless its to an extreme like child abuse.

A vet faced with a known vicious animal can refuse service. The teacher MUST take the 16 y/o in 8th grade who just did a drive by the night before, they have no say.

Of course, the only "Approved Political Activities" are those involving SUPPORTING DEMOCRATS.

With bene's, many Chicago Teachers make WELL OVER $100K. A bunch of Administrators make $200K plus.
