WINCO Foods Now Carrying Bug Out Bag Kits - 'Emergency Food Buckets'
WINCO stands for the states of Washington, Idaho, Nevada, California, Oregon. If you don't live in one of these states you probably haven't seen a WINCO. These stores offer everything when it comes to food. Organic, raw, meats, cheeses, deli fare, big box items, full alcohol and liquor section, etc. They carry stuff for the poverish to the rich which makes it very popular. They're usually very clean too, despite the bi-monthly tweaker/banger drop ins. Anyway...recently I noticed one of their 60 foot long isles had over half the isle full of emergency preparedness products. But this wasn't candles and batteries. This was iodine tablets, 25-40 year shelf life foods, 36 piece battery packs, solar panel chargers, seed packets and planters, dehydrated foods and even a 5 gallon bucket with emergency rations for 1 person for 12 full days @ 2000+ calories per day. Winco is employee owned/operated and seems to be a fairly conservative establishment. They're definitely doing well for themsleves. I get the feeling something is coming, at least on the west coast, and WINCO is gearing up for it. Here's an article a...someone else has noticed this too. [link to www.survivalistboards.com]

BTW, I believe these buckets are about 60 bucks each. For a day for 4 people for 3 days. Honesttly...that's really expensive. Unless it comes with something that by itself is more pricey. Food wise, this would be greatly overpriced.

The bucket does have more in it afterall. Apparently has literature on survival, looks like maybe a small first aid kit and a water purification/gathering system.

There's a big market for this these days. Doesn't Costco sell similar products?

No telling from our standpoint...is it just a marketing scheme or is it a sign of things to come?

Another set of items of interest at Winco...though not specifically labeled as such. There is more survival stuff at Winco, immense amount of dehydrated foods and 'just add water' mixes there. It is a survivalist's gold mine.

Wal-Mart is starting to carry survival food, although probably not as Mountain House or Wise Food Storage.
