Dogs starting to act worried, barking and whining for no reason, here in Los Angeles
Strange stuff going down here in Southern California.

My dogs started to act worried, barking and whining inside the house for no reason at all. It's not like them, especially my eldest dog who's usually very, very composed.

Neighbor's dogs starting to whimper and whine, too. I can hear them. Went outside with flashlight to check them out ... thought that maybe a possible burglar was nosing around. Nothing. Kinda weird ... my neighbor's dogs are large, and usually aggressive and not afraid of anything. It's really unsettling to hear them whining, too, for no apparent reason at all.

I'm in Pasadena, west of the Salton Sea area, where people in a vicinity covering hundreds of square miles have complained of very intense, sulfurous odors, the past few days.

Earthquake maps show earthquake swarms occurring in the middle of the Salton Sea. NEVER seen a swarm in the middle of the damned lake before.

Authorities say the stench is because of dead fish. Total B.S. There aren't enough fish in the Salton Sea in the first place to die and cause a smell that'll cover hundreds of square miles, even reaching up to San Gabriel Valley here in L.A. Not even close.

SOMETHING is going ON. It's getting CLOSER. I can feel it.

I was looking for the sulfur smell thread and couldn't find it Anyway, this is from an old thread on GLP, a true account from witnesses to the 1906 San Fran quake:

In Santa Rosa, according to Lawson and others (1908), a strong smell of sulphur had been noticed two days before the earthquake by one Charles Kobes. Since during an earthquake eight years previously, "sulfur fumes came up from under his house which almost drove his family from home", the recurrence of this phenomenon on 16 April 1906 caused Kobes to tell his family that there would be another earthquake.

there used to be someone who would come on C2C and talk about a website or something that tracked animals that had gone missing - to see if there was a spike and it might be a precursor to a quake. Does anyone know of it or have you noticed more missing pets in your paper?

No reported mass fish die offs in Salton Sea. It can't be fish. Salton Sea is a toxic swamp as it is ... barely any fish there at all. For a fish stench to make people's eyes water over an area this big, it would have to be a BILLION fish dying and baking in the sun for a week.

Dunno what it is. This is all just very weird. I hope it isn't anything, but this is too off kilter to simply ignore or brush off.

I've been a lurker here in GLP for a long time, and finally registered not too long ago. I'm not given to fear-porning or idle speculation. I just have a bad feeling about this.

I know, Dr. Acula. But I also know my dogs. They're very disciplined and very well behaved. My eldest dog who's the "Beta" leader (after me, their "Alpha" leader) walked up to me, looked around nervously, and gave a very loud, VERY uncharacteristic bark, and then walked around in circles very anxiously.

I first thought, maybe someone's at the gate or door. I checked ... it was all quiet outside.

Except for the neighbor's three dogs, who had started barking, and then immediately transitioned to whimpering and whining.

Hey OP-

Do you have a bug out bag ready to go, if you need it? Also, do you have bottles of water stocked up? Maybe you should keep a stash of stuff in your house and another stash in your car, just in case.

I've had a baddd feeling about SoCal for the past two years. My son and ex-husband lived there up until about a year ago. I shared my bad feeling with my ex husband, ( who is not at all woowoo) and he related that he had been having really bad feelings about being there as well. So much so that he sent our son to come live with me while he moved out of the area.

EQ swarms and sulpher small combined can't be good. Nothing may happen immediately, but please be prepared for worst case scenario in case something does. I'm more worried about the people there freaking the fuck out than I am about the quake itself. Be prepared and have enough food, water, and supplies for you and your dogs to leave if need be.

Not like I'm telling you anything you don't already know... I know. Just felt the need to write it out.

Stay safe, OP. You'll be in my thoughts.

To the last comment: thanks for the kind thoughts. And to everyone else for their support and helpful words.

To the jerks, especially the one about me not feeding my dogs - come on, is that sort of commentary really necessary? Pasadena is a dog town. My neighbor to the right has 3 dogs. My neighbor to the left has a dog. I have THREE dogs, and couldn't love them any more if they were my children.

Yes, I do have supplies and bug out gear ready. Ever since the horrific windstorm at the start of the year here which knocked out power in the foothills for nearly a week, I've learned my lesson. A dozen flashlights, 2 emergency generators, lots of water, canned goods, dog food, even a gas-powered grill for cooking. Am I a prepper? Maybe, but not a heavy duty sort. Just believe in being prepared, based upon having learned from recent experience, that's all.

GTFO and go WHERE, exactly?

I believe in being prudent, and being aware of the signs, but I don't think driving around aimlessly at night is going to help me or anyone at all. Reacting and being irrational is pointless, don't you think? I'm not gonna live in fear like that. Best just to make a note of things, double-check on some stuff by way of prep, and just hang in here and try to be ready as much as possible. What will happen, will happen. Nothing I can do to stop it.

I forgot to mention, my youngest dog was so spooked earlier, I practically had to hand-feed her. She was so anxious, she refused to leave her dog bed and eat from her food bowl. I had to feed her by hand.
