>We will need some kind of goods or services to export as much food and energy will need to be imported at first and probably for the first few years

>True, but not for that long I don't think. Not if we harness solar and vertical wind turbines on magnetically levitated bearings to prevent freezing. The vertical turbines could be ground based, or lofted using balloons.

>>Sounds good. we are talking about quite a startup cost but still many things will need to be imported being truly self reliant would require millions of people. and billions in equipment think machine tools, smelters, plastics, liquid fuels, synthesis of medicines, paints, lubricants, and industrial chemicals. We gotta have something to trade so we can get that stuff

Not true, it would build up to several million people eventually, and if done correctly, there would be no waste or pollution.

Once again, this is not the 1800's nor is this thread about why it CAN'T be done.

Please some research on the technology and methods we have today please. The venus project show some interesting ways to reduce waste and recycle.

There are habitable oasis throughout the continent, there are many photos and videos of flyovers of these regions available online.

 Quoting: Antarctican

There is NOT, they all freeze UP, you have to leave or you will DIE.
What do you not get about this?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21662845

This is not the 1800's.
We have the technology to sustain a colony.

Why do you suppose everyone leaves in the antarctic winter?
Unless they are some trekkers or something that live in miserable conditions?

A group of Muslims, come and state you convert to Islam or die?

How does the group, and will the colony be prepared to defend itself? If so. how? Will you raise your vibrations, and intend them to go away?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20182567

Quran (8:39) - "And fight with them until there is no more fitna (disorder, unbelief) and religion should be only for Allah"

Putting your head in the sand / snow, doesn't make this possibility go away.

there is a treaty in place that no country can lay claim to any part of antarctica, that is my understanding.

if there is no treaty.. :

..then, the rest of the world would not allow this. kuwait still exists

This is very inspiring stuff OP. Thank you for your postings. The ideas you are presenting are seriously the best I've read in awhile.

So much on this site is doom this, nukes that, oh shit I think Iran might be up to something sneaky it's very refreshing to hear ideas of hope.

This is a great idea. It would be easy to export waste heat into large under ice fish farms. You guys realize we can live under the ice right? its a badass insulator.

If posters following this thread would please not reply to the following, they will simply fall into the depths of lower pages, or will be removed by me along with replies:

-Racism
-Religion
-Politics
-Attempts to derail the purpose of the thread.

We are here to discuss HOW to do this, not why it CAN'T be done.

Thank you very much for the bumps, to those who do reply in defense.

Unless a pole shift is occurring, and it completely changes the relative position of Antarctica to the Sun.

How are you going to address the half year cycle of Night and Day?

If you're talking about building a new infrastructure from scratch, then this could be a tremendously fascinating project.

If done right, a project like this could be a showcase for the modern community of the future.

The neatest thing about a clean slate is that you can write anything you want.

When addressing infrastructural design, the first question you have to ask is whether it's centralized or modular.

Modular makes sense mostly for reasons of redundancy in the event of failure, so an ideal design would feature 1-4 person independent habitations complete with the requirements to sustain those needs that are deemed necessary for the success of the venture.
