Animals committing suicide? (Oregon)

My girlfriend takes me to work every week 5 days a week, and me and her have noticed a ridiculous amount of animals, like deer roaming around, cats etc, and road kill. Just last week a cat ran straight into our car, jumped out of the bushes right before she could stop and smacked the side, it was fine, but its as if it were trying to die. I live in oregon, anyone noticing anything like this?
