How can I use a Seagate "windows only" portable drive on a Mac?
So I bought a portable drive for the first time but I was unaware that some are made for PCs specifically and others for Macs. The me I have is for windows.

Is there a way to change the format somehow so that I can transfer files into the portable drive from a Mac? And then transfer the files from the drive into a PC?

I tried googling but I can't seem to get a strait forward explanation. Something about FAT32.

I'm not a mac guy but here's an avenue you can explore... et a PC emulator. it's software you download that will make your mac run like a PC when you need to run windows based programs on it.

I'm not sure if it will run a hd or just programs. You'll have to figure that out for yourself.

OP, you should be able to just plug it into your mac and run the application "Disk Utility" to reformat the drive into a Mac OSX drive.

Google: "reformat hard drive mac"

that would be my guess. I assume the only difference would be you bought a preformatted one, format it as you please.
