So, once you get your diet on track and have more energy, pay attention to building as muscle mass as is comfortable for you. Quoting: stillhere 24hours a day the muscles burn calories. (yep, even when you sleep) People with more muscles burn more calories while they sleep. Exercise that burns fat? Has to be slow, like walking and last for more than 25 minutes. The fast, hard exercising like running burns blood sugars, not fat. ![]() interesting i just realized i like walking outside or on the treadmill as much as i liked biking or using the elyptical machine. i dont feel worn out at the end but i end up just as sweaty from walking and buring about 500 cal in an hour as opposed to riding an exercise bike and burning about 850cal. that makes sense. i also lost a LOT of weight as a teenager with chromium piccolinate, but i dont seem to see it marketed as weight loss so much anymore? seems like i also saw it available in much higher doses around the mid 90s. i added chlorella and it makes you feel incredible! apparently it aids weight loss as well. i had an old fav dinner of mine tonite, i went to a local vietnamese restaurant and ordered a vegetarian meal...curried wheat gluten w grilled onions and cucumber. yes it has white rice, but wheat gluten is a delicious extremely high protein low fat low carb source of protein. if you arent allergic to gluten, i suggest trying it...across the street there is a vietnamese market that sells cans of it for like 1.50. 1 can has about 45g of protein and about 10g fat, only like 1g saturated, and low carb. it is also referred to as "seitan" i have made it before, pretty easy to make, wheat gluten powder, water, tamari, then boil it. just like tofu it takes the flavor of whatever you cook it in, only it has more of a beefy flavor/texture. thanx for all the suggestions everyone! |

I made sure i basically consumed basically protein and that most of my carbs were fiber. I only drank filtered water and orange juice with calcium. I took a raw food multi vitamin (your body treats this as food and absorbs it like food, unlike lab made vitamins) i lost 60 lbs in 4 months, i maintained the weight i wanted to be at for about 8 years, then i got lazy, stopped working out and started eating gross fast food, due to a busier life style and working 2 jobs. now that i am 32 it seems way harder to lose the weight! i cant work out as much due to work, and i seem to have pulled a muscle in my leg. i can walk for about an hour a day and that is about it. i went back to taking a raw food sourced multi-vitamin, and eating as much plant based protein (i eat meat now, but preferably only organic), and adding as much organic produce as i can, and i only drink filtered water (i have a big berkey filter, it even removes fluoride and arsenic) even when i do bike ride like i used to i dont seem to lose any weight! i FEEL much better, but dont physically see any results. any suggestions? thanx. I've done the "Fast" many times and lost quickly, but gained it back and more once the diet stopped and I had lost precious muscle mass with the weight loss. I would suggest not watching the scales, but how your clothes fit--it is nothing to be happy about to lose 10 pounds if it is mostly water weight and muscle mass. All you want to lose is fat, and to do that you have to be in "fat" burning mode and carbs prevent that. We all make many choices every about how much we eat, drink, and sleep and exercise. Small better choices add up over time and form new good habits that become easy to follow. "You can bend it and twist it... You can misuse and abuse it... It's easy. Calories in Vs. Calories out. Eat smart raw food, small proportions mostly veggies. Run, run, and run some more. |

The easiest way is to cut down on your portions and exercise. It's boring sounding I know, not like changing all your diet to smoothies and doing crossfit, but it works. The more exercise the better, since that will REALLY make you healthy, but just cutting down on food works to burn fat fine. |

Your growth hormone and testosterone levels have dropped considerably. I'd recommend that you try the caveman diet in earnest using whatever organic food you can verify. Exercise mostly weight bearing, and instead of doing cardio exercise on a treadmill or elyptical, switch to hard physical exertion by rock climbing, hiking, white water rafting, running on hills. I see you hurt yourself. That can really limit cardio. Still the best way is to strength the damaged material within reason. Use leg supports if possible in the problem areas. Your metabolism naturally drops as you age. The largest drop is occuring NOW. That slowing of metabolic rate can be increase by renewed efforts. You might also try taking a supplement of hot pepper in your diet. That tends to increase metabolism. It's why you sweat more when you eat them. The natural response from dieting is a survival mechanism. The body attempts to use glycogen first. That's why it's stored in muscles for quick energy and in the liver since the liver is a filter for the blood. Fat comes off slow, but it was also slow to accumulate. If you eat complex carbs all the time, then the body sees a surplus supply of calories. When the body sees too much protein, it excretes it the urine. People eat much larger portions than they used to. Do this. Pour a bowl of cereal and then actually measure how much cereal and milk you use versus what is the amount on the box. Surprising no? You probably do that all day long. If you think about people you admire that are guys, they probably look wolfishly thin, hungry, and fierce. It's because they never eat enough to satisy them. That leads to a very cut-up lean look of someone who is trying to prepare for a boxing match. Be like them. |

Obesity is not a disease. It is a symptom. You (I and millions of folks too) have a spiritual disease. The disease is simply we do not control our flesh which wants to eat and eat. The only "permanent" cure for this disease is to take a blood oath and swear that as long as you are breathing you will step on that damn scale once a day until you die. There is no other cure PERIOD If you take the oath, then you are holding your flesh accountable and you will loose weight no matter which diet you use, because if the diet stops working you will change it. PS: I prefer a low carb, low calorie diet simply because I am not hungry when I cut out the sugars and starches. I does not matter what you use as long as you resolve to NEVER stop weighing yourself. |
