You don't have to eat it. Just look at it. There's not much in it, but that's the actual ammount of food the average person should be eating at dinner as determined by dieticians over the last 100 years of research. You'll probably be shocked at how small it is. Make the meals you prepare for yourself that size and you'll be fine. |

Replace as many carbs as you can with fats, preferably animal fats. Eating vegetables is fine, avoid fruits and fruit drinks. Replace plant proteins with animal proteins when possible. 8 years of your body malnourished means you metabolism is all fucked up. It will hold unto that fat you have now tightly. |

For every 3500 calories you burn above what you consume, you lose one pound. There are 'calculators' around the internet which you can use to figure out how many calories you burn in a typical day depending on the activities you engage in. Also rather than eating 3 meals a day, eat 5-6 smaller meals to keep your metabolism on full throttle. |

I also include a little kefir, that is the only dairy im really wanting to add, due to the high probiotic content. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1899433 i am male/32/5'9" when i was 23 i went vegan and started riding my bike about 2 - 4 hours ever day or every other day. I made sure i basically consumed basically protein and that most of my carbs were fiber. I only drank filtered water and orange juice with calcium. I took a raw food multi vitamin (your body treats this as food and absorbs it like food, unlike lab made vitamins) i lost 60 lbs in 4 months, i maintained the weight i wanted to be at for about 8 years, then i got lazy, stopped working out and started eating gross fast food, due to a busier life style and working 2 jobs. now that i am 32 it seems way harder to lose the weight! i cant work out as much due to work, and i seem to have pulled a muscle in my leg. i can walk for about an hour a day and that is about it. i went back to taking a raw food sourced multi-vitamin, and eating as much plant based protein (i eat meat now, but preferably only organic), and adding as much organic produce as i can, and i only drink filtered water (i have a big berkey filter, it even removes fluoride and arsenic) even when i do bike ride like i used to i dont seem to lose any weight! i FEEL much better, but dont physically see any results. any suggestions? thanx. go vegan for 1 month |

My brother looks great at 35 - eats high protein, almost no carbs. It's tough, but it works. |

stillhere User ID: 16315970 United States 09/12/2012 01:48 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Look into the paleo diet, GAPS diet and any diet that forbids grains, sugars... Lots of new evidence proving that your body needs to get into "fat" burning mode which can't be done while you are eating carbs (wheat is the worst) Carbs make you put the excess in fat storage. Look into the book : Wheat Belly: Lose the Wheat, Lose the Weight, and Find Your Path Back to Health by William Davis (Aug 30, 2011) [link to www.amazon.com] read the reviews. Juicing and vegan diets (tried them for a long time) even did the 90 day juice fast.--They are easy to lose muscle on and rely on lots of starchy and sweet food to make the juices palatable and beans are high on the Glycemic index. It is easier to have a satisfying diet of organic meats, and low starch vegetables---think meat and a salad. Easy to get anywhere. The most important thing is to eliminate wheat, white rice, grains, and sugars. Look into the GAPS diet [link to www.gapsdiet.com] Try it if you have any of the symptoms they list--leaky gut, asthma, exema, ADD, gas, bloating, athletes foot, belly fat. Also there is a wonderful article in the "WELL BEING JOURNAL" Sept,/Oct. issue 2012 Every article is great, but one explains with good science why everything we have been taught about nutrition is wrong. (for losing weight) The article is called "Carbohydrates, Hormones, and Weight Gain, Myths about Obesity" by CJ Puotinen I'll give you two quotes-- 1. "The carbohydrates in our diet make us fat. The science tells us that obesity is ultimately the result of hormonal imbalance." 2. "High insulin levels cause the body to store fat and stop the body from using fat as fuel. This means that high-carbohydrate foods make you put on more fat while leaving you feeling very hungry and unsatisfied." The article is long and very well written and clear--all backed up with current good science. Also--don't drink diet pop--it will only destroy your health and make you hungry. (but you don't sound like you have done this)--no fried food. Healthy fats are good--butter, coconut oil, eggs, ...... Dairy is usually a no-- Good luck--knowledge is power --a life long lifestyle change that is easy to live with. It is hard to work out when you feel tired all the time. Read-up on it and know all the pros and cons before you do so. I have seen people loose a lot of weight on it, it's just a supplement you can find at some drug stores, health food stores. I used to take a small dose, but I'm on the slim side and it made me look anorexic, so I stopped. |
stillhere User ID: 16315970 United States 09/12/2012 12:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | All fat is burned in muscle. So, once you get your diet on track and have more energy, pay attention to building as muscle mass as is comfortable for you. 24hours a day the muscles burn calories. (yep, even when you sleep) People with more muscles burn more calories while they sleep. Exercise that burns fat? Has to be slow, like walking and last for more than 25 minutes. The fast, hard exercising like running burns blood sugars, not fat. "You can bend it and twist it... You can misuse and abuse it... But even God cannot change the Truth.” Michael Levy |
