| Anonymous Coward User ID: 33197606 01/29/2013 12:52 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What a stinking pile of dog shit this operating system is. The Metro interface is all cloud based which totally eliminates any sense of privacy and security for the end user. On top of that, the desktop is now cut down and has the start button castrated. Finding one's way around is now guesswork since the OS offers no visual clues as to what the fuck is going on. The file manager now incorporates that totally fucked up ribbon bar - the one that everyone hates. It's inclusion was made to piss everyone off no doubt. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1748197 This operating system was designed by fuckheads - for fuckheads. MicroSHIT is well and truly finished now that this putrid garbage has appeared since no sane person would want to run such an obnoxious and intrusive pile of shit. Google can just sit back and watch as the MictoTitanic sinks rapidly into the abyss. Muzzies |

I'm like how the heck do I use the calculator, and he's all like "...Alt shift control f5 b 2 tab..." or some crap. I just want to click the dang icon. Quoting: Holldoll Christ you are dumb from th metro start screen just fucking type: calc and press enter So hard, I know. Darlin, it's just gonna take time to get used to. Especially when it's been the same for a while. It SEEMS overly complicated is my point, not that it actually is, only because it's different. Take a chill pill, it's called humor. take time to get used to sharia law too? |

All the Metro apps are made for touch devices. I find myself on the desktop screen all the time. i had to make shortcuts to my software I use since there is no start menu. Windows 8 requires a lot more clicking and scrolling to get something done than if you use Windows 7. I just learned how to print from Windows 8 pdf reader. It opens your pdf file full screen with no options. If you pop out the charms bar and click devices and click on your printer, it lets you print. Windows 8 is faster but it sucks big time. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22958406 /me shrugs. No. This time it's different. Every previous Windows going back to Windows 95 was some kind of improvement on the previous one and kept to the same basic format. This thing is something entirely different. It's basically a touchscreen OS that they're trying to shove down our throats as an actual replacement for Windows. Somebody at MS went full retard and no one called them on it. And since MS never admits mistakes or back pedals at all, this could actually be the beginning of the end for them. People are just going to run Windows 7 forever and that doesn't put money into MS' pockets. |

It's an issue of cost, support, retraining, re-coding and costs involved therein. I can't tell you how many Win8 machines (laptop and PC's) i have downgraded in the last couple months. | Anonymous Coward User ID: 31846223 01/29/2013 02:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It took me three weeks to unfuck Windows8. One of the fixes is Classic Shell. It gets you about halfway there. Another good fix is enabling the AeroLite theme. It looks like Windows8 was developed by people who never have to perform real work on their PC. The Office products (2007 and 2010) are the same. I've been using them for years and the stupid ribbon still sucks and is much slower than the older drop-down menus. The Office products were obviously developed by language-impaired rejects who have extreme difficulty interpreting letters arranged into words and must use symbols to supplement their lack of comprehension. Too bad MS has a monopoly on corporate software. Thousands of people would drop this crap if their employers and clients didn't use it. |

Luckily you can get a free copy but only for a while... Very soon they're going to start charging for it. And yes no start bar does suck, but there are programs like Start8 that you can use that will give you the start bar back. It's shareware at first but it's only 5 dollars to register when your trial period expires. |

Microsoft may not please everyone all the time, but it is the leader of the industry, and where it both the software and hardware industry follow, and so must we. It is therefore necessaryto adopt a positive attitude to the new interface, and to the mobile devices Microsoft are offering, and to use legacy desktop applications only as long as you need to. It is necessary to adopt a mature attitude to migration to the new system. Soon, Adobe and other software giants will release Metro style versions of their software, and time should not be wasted by posting negative reviews. |

It needs ease of use, simpler controls. Effectively it needs dumbing down. ANd I can't see that happening as it is for techies. As for myself I'm steering well clear of Linux. For games you use consoles - they are bring out a new version of Xbox soon, no more PC. This is the way forward. Windows 8 PCs, and Microsoft phones and tablets form a family that can be used by buisnessmen and executives for serious work. Trust me, you will see how good this is going to be. Windows 8 is a far superior operating system and represents the future of computing. It boots faster, and has better performance. The sooner you all learn to accept this, the happier you''ll all be. Did you seriously expect any kind of future in free computing? |

Most of the people talking shit are just parroting what they've read online from other people who never tried it. I agree that some of the choices Microsoft made were dumb, but you can restore the start menu in about a minute, and Windows 8 is cheap as fuck compared to previous versions of Windows. After restoring the old start menu there isn't really much to complain about. |
