I agree it needs a little work, it's horrible "out of the box" with that Metro UI which has NO PLACE on a PC but if you're willing to put a little work into it...I think it's well worth it afterwards. It boots up much, much faster than 7 you can clearly feel the fact that huge parts of the kernel have been completely rewritten and the old code from NT removed ! |

It's ridiculous that a 3rd party had to make a start button though. Microsoft doesn't get the message that people want an OS based around their desktop. They don't want an OS for a tablet for their desktop. They really dropped the ball on this one. Consumers don't want this Metro and cloud bullshit. I hope another viable OS for gaming arrives soon. I'm tired of Windows. I know Linux is stepping up it's game but it needs to support all games for me to make the switch. Why try to copy Apple or Android? These do a different job for different end users. Microsoft was the professional OS for business uers with Apple OSX for arty farty types and Andriod for geeks. Windows 8 is good imo :) Win 8 is good you just need to download classic start menu which you can get for free so it works like windows 7 but updated features. I have no problem with some of the apps like netflix that is easy to use and find movies. I don't think some people understand it to well but ms is right that in the next few years touch is going to be common even for phones too that you can feel textures and more. |
