When TSHTF and money is worthiness and you're not working, what happens when you pay rent?

If money is worthless why would they pay rent?
If its a SHTF scenario, owning your own home wont be worth anything more than what people occupying rented houses is as the police and army work for money and if it becomes worthless I guess they will be with their family and friends too.
The people that have an idea about or experienced in native lifestyles will be fine. Those seeking help from the ones that normally give it will be sorely disappointed I believe.
In the depression it was people who grew food, hunters and gatherers that did better than most. Crying our front of your workplace or local members workplace will get you nowhere and leave your dependents vulnerable.
The fire stick farmers will rise up, burn you out, and return to business as usual, before the land destroying houses and fences sprang up everywhere. or something similar.
Why would you continue to work if money is worthless? Is it good with sauce? Too bacteria laden to wipe your ass with. Not as good as bark for insulation.
Build quick, easy and comfortable shelters from immediately available material wherever they like I guess? And then the gun users can come and take it off them but this time, disease won't have wiped out 80% of them so more spears to face and dissension among the aggressors as their groups see the true colours of their current comrades. Who knows or cares really. I think after we leave here we may be no better off with the slight benefit of no physical pain and needs but still with all emotional and mental attractants that lured us in the beginning.

I'm a renter and my plan B is to live in my suv if I have to. I've scouted out areas where I can park over night if need be. Conditions will be rather spartan.....

I am a man and have no desire to rape anyone, quite the contrary. Stop making men look look like savages. Are some this way, yes, but most of us are NOT this way. You forget that most men have mothers, daughters and sisters that we love. Just as we would not want to see them rape, nor would we rape anyone else. I can promise you that people who rape during tshtf will probably not survive long.

BTW, this is one good reason NOT to be a landlord. It is a hard enough profession as it is even in the current economy, and evicting people is always unpleasant. Most landlords can expect to lose their properties under this scenario, for one thing, no one is going to enforce the laws, for another, evicting a family where they would die of exposure is something you would have to be carried in your soul for the rest of your life. Moreover, any family would know this and probably behave accordingly and kill to protect themselves. To me it would not worth it being a landlord going into a currency collapse profession.

Someone already said what would happen. Without utilities which includes garbage disposal, water for bathing and the toilet, washing clothes, people would just abandon their rentals once they became too filthy to live in. Also realize most rentals are slums in undesirable locations. If a rental was such a great property the landlord would reside there himself.

I am so sick of people who believe they OWN their home when they have a landlord that is the mortgage company!

Right now it takes three years to get thrown out of a mortgaged home. Some of the deadbeats that stopped paying their mortgage in 2009 are still in their homes today.

You don't even own it paid off, uncle sugar does. What's to stop your property taxes becoming like rent once the cities and counties go broke? This is why property taxes should have been allowed to exist. People who lose their jobs will lose their homes because they wont be able to pay these taxes (rent). People who think they own their paid off properties are idiots. I have regular conversations with people who think they own their own homes living in a homeowner's association too. They have no say on how to paint their own home, or what kind of mailbox they can have. They really believe they own something they have no real control over. They lie to themselves. People who think this way number in the tens of millions, it goes to show how levels of consciousness and ability to think has declined in this country.

If mortage companies are still around then this tshtf scenario really isn't that bad then.

And do you know what they do when they finally get thrown out? They take the cash they saved by not paying all those years and attempt to buy a house for cash. The worst case scenario is that they spend seven years in the penalty box and then they have a nice down payment to put down. Yet high interest student loans are not dischargable. This country only looks out for criminals and thieves.

Same story here. What is a bank but people working a job? Nobody will enforce anything if TSHTF. Just the way it will be if this does indeed become reality.
