HERO COP: Texas Cop Drags 77-Yr-Old Grandmother from Car for Refusing to Show ID

A local Texas police department is standing by an officer who dragged a 77-year-old grandmother out of her car for speeding after she repeatedly refused to provide her driver's license.

What was he supposed to do, beg her to "please" give him her license? The way police are trained to handle these situations is ask, tell, force!

First you ask nicely, if that doesn't work you ORDER the suspect to do what you want, and if that doesn't work you FORCE the suspect to do what you want!

If any of you have a better way of handling things we all would love to hear it ...

She is a mouthy old cunt that don't listen.
I think she deserved what she got, which could have been avoided if she just provided her DL, the stupid old bitch.

I'll be the first to jump on a cop but this isn't one of those times.

One thing about driving is when your pulled over your rights are a little different. If you choose to drive then you are required by law to show ID when pulled over end of story.

She said "Go Ahead" when he warned her then resisted when he called her bluff. End of story.

I got one. how about before any contact is made by a "police officer" and a "civilian", there needs to be a criminal complaint made, showing injury, by another "civilian" and not "the state".

if no one is injured by actions taken, no crime was committed. many, if not most, laws make criminal what are victimless activities.

Look, I'd fight against a cop who threw me to the ground for no reason or something, but she was doing 66 in a 50, and then literally told the cop to take her to jail when she responded, "Well do it..." to his statement of she'd be going to jail if she refused. And then she decides to get high and mighty about him hurting her arm when she continues to not comply. I'm sorry she had a bladder infection, I hope she wasn't hurt, but she got what she wanted and in my opinion has no ground in this case as she wouldn't have gotten hurt if she hadn't told him to take her to jail then refused to get out of the vehicle. There's other ways to go about the whole ID and insurance thing than her course so I feel no real sorrow for her plight and don't think the cop was out of his jurisdiction and could have pulled her to the ground in a whole lot worse ways. *shrugs* But whatever. What's my opinion matter?

She was 77 years old. Rude yes, but calling that cop a hero is just retarded!

A hero would have taken the time to deal with the situation effectively. Also, there may not be a LAW that actually REQUIRED the ID to be produced RIGHT AWAY. A requirement to produce isn't a requirement to produce in under 30 seconds. She said she would produce it, he could have gave her a moment to get her foggy memory together. Being rude and cranky isn't against the law.

I'm not saying the was completely wrong.. But a hero? Give me a break. He was another trashy control freak that couldn't take the time to do the right thing so he did the lawful thing.

The stupid cop couldn't wait a few g*ddamn seconds? He had to have his commands obeyed immediately? She's old. Old people don't do things immediately, mostly because they can't.

Kops get mad when they aren't treated with the same reverence as Kim Jong-Il, or Hitler.

The first question on the police exam is: "Are you an asshole, or a potential asshole?" Candidates that answer "No" don't get picked.

My Mother is older than that, and has no issues with 'speed'...

She still jogs, and stacked a cord of wood in an hour yesterday...

Called to 'impress' me...

If this woman is so old that she can't 'react quickly', then you just admitted she should not be driving...
