GOOD indication -- police bomb squad techs now approaching vehicle without protective gear

Looks like it's all clear. FBI statement has been issues. Suspect is in custody, air space restriction lifted and no explosives found.

While this is very good news, the day has been exhausting from a security viewpoint.

Plus it has given active terrorists much insight into how we respond to various threats, from college campuses to a downtown setting.

While this thread's events are essentially "over", as in "the suspect car has been cleared", there is a lot of information in the links provided that shows the GLP reader exactly how we respond to situations like this as well.

Considering that the nutjob behind the KC situation was a verified 'heavy hitter' in the bombmaking world, the reaction was not just the standard "abundance of caution", but apparently measured and reasoned.

We DO know enough of the details of his witness protection to know that he was screwed over royally be the .gov.

He did own a shoe business at one time though. Maybe he supplied the shoe bomber.

he wasn't screwed over by the feds....the dropped him from the witness protection program because he was a regular attendee at chief home games and managed to become popular and on the jumbo-tron often....known as "helmet head" and his face was plastered all over the tv....ALOT of times over the course of seasons....marshals don't have to protect someone who is no longer in hiding...he wasn't cooperating

I work downtown KC about 3 blocks from where this is going on and I had to hear about it from GLP. Obviously if this was credible. I should hope they would have alerted the area businesses.

I am not stationed out of the state building downtown but my co-workers in that office are...here's a good local link as well for more info
