Hiram College has received a bomb threat this afternoon. We are taking the threat seriously and have evacuated campus to ensure the safety of all members of the campus community.

We will be updating www.hiram.edu with any further information.

September 14, 2012 at 8:00pm-Please remain patient as safety officials continue their work in checking all campus buildings. FBI agents are on site and assisting local authorities.

September 14, 2012 at 7:00pm- Members of the Campus Emergency Response Team continue to be in communication with fire and policy personnel as all campus buildings are checked. Students have gathered at the Hiram Christian Church and Village Hall. Students who are not located at a safe place can gather at the Hiram Christian Church. Members of our community who are contacted by media should direct all inquiries to Tom Ford at 216-650-2418. We will update you through email and www.hiram.edu

September 14, 2012 at 6:23pm- Officials from Portage County, Garrettsville Police, Mantua Police, as well as Hiram Village Police and Fire are on scene and engaged in checking campus buildings.

September 14, 2012 at 5:41pm- Fire & safety teams, with bomb sniffing dogs, are checking all campus buildings. We will keep you informed as they complete their work and buildings are cleared.

Its just like pulling the fire alarm. The only thing I'm wondering is why aren't these callers being tracked to their original sources?

Or maybe the buildings are being evacuated so that no one can see what they are doing to the building! Setting ACTUAL bombs... or coating the walls with thermite. LOL

This school isn't big enough for that.

It does have 50 some buildings though...so the bomb sniffing is gonna take a while.

I do wish I had more coverage to offer...but I got nothin'.

I would imagine institutions of higher learning would be considered an abomination by these cavemen.

See now this is interesting..... I live along the turnpike I've seen Military Helicopters flying for the past two days. Not sure where they are headed. This was in broad daylight too. Will keep my eyes peeled tonight and see if I see more on the move.

I am telling you people everything is going according to their plan, won't be long before we have homeland security is in every school,store, or public area in the USA this is what the want and it is working.

I thought the same thing at first, I went outside and all 5 of them were military. At night, I just can't tell.

Ravenna Arsenal isn't too far from Hiram. But maybe its more about whats by the colleges? I count 4-5 smaller airports just outside of Hiram and the Ohio Turnpike is just south of Hiram. Maybe the other colleges are near airports and colleges as well.

Going by the uncharactistic lack of concern by local stations....

This is absolutely nothing - and they know it, just double checking

OR

It IS something and they don't want to create a panic

OR

They know a lot of the viewers are at the local high school football games, so they aren't wasting the air time


No matter....Just less than an hour for the local 10 o'clock news coverage. I expect we'll get some decent details.
