[ link to alpo-j.asahikawa-med.ac.jp] Check out the upper right recent image of Jupiter. The black splotches have been there for months now at the same latitude where the recent "explosion" was imaged. The latest flash seems to be not as much as +12 as advertsised, I would say a few less than that. From the video it appears to be very near the equator, but the first observer said +12 North, 257 L3, so they kept that.
