I'm not sure we would get a shockwave; with a slow-motion ignition that seems to be occurring it might just be more of a slow tranformation.

It is possible that near the end of transformation it may speed up and cause some sort of ejecta.

Also, flare-outs are possible later on if this theory is correct.

So, if enough ejecta is directed at Earth during these scenarios, we could see some kind of record extreme X warning like we get with CME's from the Sun.
