Regarding Jupiter's initial center liquidation as opposed to the ongoing fusion, these are two events.

You have a very unusual situation as the SOLID CORE of Jupiter DID go into massive and rapid expansion due to the fusion heat. It had to relieve the pressure quickly, and just as magma does so under crust of Earth, a weak point is used.

Ongoing fusion heat is being produced now without this first mechanism having to operate since the center has now "adjusted".

We should eventually see a modest expansion of Jupiter when the heat gets nearer to the surface, but it's being absorbed in lower layers for the time being.
