The Taiwanese were not treated by the Japanese as Japanese treated mainlanders. Enter WW2. Japan driven out by Allied forces. Enter Mao.... And.. back to Chang coming to Taiwan. Set up, "Chinese," government there, backed fully by U.S. One day the Taiwanese said enough of Chang. Thousands slaughtered by Chang's troops in one day. "Our," history books, i.e., U.S. never mentioned this when I was coming up. Anyway, the U.S. has had special agreements with Taiwan ever since. Which have been trashed. The U.S. may bluster... but it is just that. You can not deny that hong kong is now with China and students are protesting? Is that not the point I was making? Of course not. I just prefer to set the ground, the fundamentals. They do make a difference in clarity of thought... at least to some. Again... you went to another mechanism that has been inculcated through semantic manipulation via media.... The Diversion. Don't take offense. Learn. So you may think more clearly, communicate more accurately. And if you DO take offense.... well you do.. and that is you. Hopefully this interchange has been healthy and of some value for you.
