yup sorry to tell that they boned you. Here's what to do find in the owners manual where it says how often the coolant needs changed. Then called the service manager and bitch at him. Your hubby ok'd the work so your screwed. But they may give you credit for the coolant flush.

The antifreeze is changed at 100K intervals on the Altima...On the back of your owners manual they have a number to call about complaints.

Why I avoid auto mechs like the plauge, and why Autozone
has them lined up every saturday, getting parts to do
their own service.
Most cars these days have lifetime coolant, only needs topping off.
Most of what was done, like hinge lube, would be unnessesary
in such a young car, don't need plugs until car starts skipping.
Don't need a "tune up" in a car with electronic ignition.
NEVER take your vehicle to a dealer, biggest crooks on
the planet.
They say you will void your warranty, what they don't tell you is that the maintenence can be done somewhere else,
and cheaper.
Get a shop manual, you will be surprized at what you can
do yourself.
They saw you coming, for sure

Hell when I was 12 I was doing all of that
to my parents cars just for fun and we as kids back 40 years ago knew how to do all of this as I guess because we were always outside as we had no ps3,s pc,s etc etc etc to dumb us down and we just learned by hands on training even at that young of an age, hell we could fix our own lawnmowers to np.

As u said they saw her/him coming, well them and the next 100,s of 1000,s inline to, ITS A TOTAL SHAME!!

I'm an Auto Tech for a living. The dealer will screw you every time you go there. Go to a well established independent shop. I just did a 36k on a Murano and I think the bill was about $250. I didn't flush the coolant because it was good according to my refractometer but I did everything else. The thing is that at my shop an oil change service includes pretty much everything listed in a 36k except for filters and additional fluids to top off. Most other reputable independent shops are the same. We laugh at the dealers outrageous prices on a regular basis. There's just no money in new car sales anymore do they try to jack you on unnecessary maintenance.

thanks for all the replies, and yes my husband is one of those kind of guys that gets ripped off like this all the time, nicest guy on the planet but no comprende this kind of thing. I am a bitch from hell in these matters and I would have made them give me a quote first and I KNOW not to go to a dealship for shit like this.....arrgghhh.

Anyway I appreciate all the help from you guys and have a good idea of how I am going to approach this. I said to my husband how in the sam hell can a car with so few miles need 650.00 of work unless it is a lemon. He did rip them a new one when they called for a survey about his experience so good for him.

what the fuck?
100k? that's fucking stupid. No wonder 95% of cars run like shit. An Engine has many moving parts, and Coolant is a very important part... so doing the regular maintenance that the manufacturers suggests is probably a good idea.

Cheaper, with shittier parts/ labor.

"Ohhh I forgot to put your oil drain plug on..that's why your engine was knocking"

Yeah, go to some shitbags to "save" money. (not saying ALL small shops are...)

Lets see you take off the head and seat some valves, and how much time it takes you.
The locks and hinges, yeah i'd bitch about that, though.

Seriously, if you don't want to pay to maintain your car, go on craigslist and buy a 500 dollar honda.

Well you better re-think that statement because when all of these lazy kids that think the world goes round from being desk jockies that have college degrees they will go buy a house, but wait who builds houses? That house will need plumbing, heating and air conditioning an electrical, but who will do that? You will then want to buy a nice new car and it WILL break and it WILL need to be fixed, but with all of the multiplexed computer systems and electrical systems, variable valve timing engines, who is going to be able to fix those issues, because you have to actually be able to figure out what is wrong with the car before you can get the part to fix it. On another note you probably have no idea how much it costs just to be a technician. I am 28 years old and have easily $60,000 invested into old and equipment which is required that you own your own tools to be a tech at that level at any shop. The hundred dollars an hour of labor does not go direct to the tech, they usually make half that as a flat rate tech and if the shop you work for doesn't have any cars to work on, guess what the tech makes no money because his income is based on the labor hours performed. So for a job as financially risky as a job as a tech I think $50 an hour to the tech is fair. Get your shit straight you ignorant dumb bitch. The world would probably go round without you at your desk job, but your car still has to run properly for you to get there. Fucking dumb people piss me off.

Re: Took My Nissan Altima Lease Vehicle In fo 36,000 Maintaince and ended up with a 650.00 Dollar Invoice WTF?
so next time, take your 2 degrees and do your own work on the car. the mechanic at the dealer only makes about 20% of that labor charge, by the way. the rest of it goes to the dealership, to cover the investment in "shop tools" (lifts, flush machines, ac machines, diagnostic machines, etc) as well as the basic overhead (mortgage on the land, building, maintainence, insurace, electricity, etc). the hosing you got was on the parts, actually. you paid 195 bucks for 4 qts of oil, 3 filters, a gallon or so of antifreeze, and a radiator cap. about 75 bucks worth of parts. welcome to the world of the mechanically inept. nothing done in that visit was something any human with 2 hands that work, a functioning brain, and even moderate hand-eye coordination couldnt do. of course, you might have actually researched the history of Nissan (post datsun) in this country, and found out that hosing you on service and parts is their corporate strategy to make up for the fact they sold those shitboxes here in the us at a loss for 2 decades to capture market share. so, your choices for the future amount to learning to enjoy getting hosed by the dealer, or buying a service manual (20 bucks) and learning to do the maintainence yourself. wait til you see the lubless fucking you're going to take when the lease expires on that mass of recycled shaefer cans and you turn it in... roflmao "i've got 2 degrees, and im too stupid to see i was fucking myself!!"

next time get a toyota or honda as Nissan is too rare of a car and the dealers do not see enough biz to keep the vultures off of their backs. Head up to the local coney island restaurant and make some shade tree mechanic friends, they are always hanging around diners.

hello friend i think i understand your frustration

price sounds right for the dealer but i would have

been very specific on what was to be serviced

you were taken by the stealership

scheduled maintenance is an oil change every 7,500 miles

and an engine air filter every 30,000 miles at your

local wal-mart or whatever

the rest is optional bullshit and probably doing

more harm than good

newer cars are designed to go 100,000 miles without problems

you can even do the service yourself if you wish to

keep all your receipts in a safe place for warranty purposes

now you know

btw car techs are too stupid to cert and work on airplanes

plus they sit around a lot (economy) that is why they

are so sore

You went in giving them a blank check and they filled it in. You have no one to blame. Next time tell them what you want done. You didn't need a brake fluid change or radiator change. I'm surprised they didn't change your transmission fluid and air in your tires. Let the buyer be ware. Didn't they give you a written extimate before work was done? I believe this is the law now.

Obviously youve never owned a shop. Where the mechanic probobly made 45$ off the 2.5 - 3 hrs of work they preformed. Brake flush 30k is right. If the cars production date is in 08 which im sure it is.... The coolant is almost 5 YEARS old.... U think that shit doesnt break down?? The door locks and hinges was excessive and should have been a courtesy. But big shops have big overhead.

Theres alotttt of supplies/chemicals, rent, wages, warrantys ( no profit work ) , insurance ( large expense ) and plus.... The guy working on your car has double the cost you paid for that car in TOOLS he has to fix it with. Go buy all the shit they used at an auto parts store and u are at maybe 250( not including 1000's in the machines they use to flush )

But a wise man once said...." You dont pay me to turn a bolt..... You pay me to know which bolt to turn" the repair industry is struggleing. These guys dont make enough money to be ripping you off.

U are complety full of shit. Change ur oil every 7500 miles with conventional oil.?... The oil filter id be worried about at 5k due to build up from the shitty cheap oil people like yourself will buy and put in it. And if you put 100k on your car in 5 years your right( except for transmission ) but from what it sounds like u wont have a car at 100k. And no..... Im not a technician
