[link to www.sbs.com.au] Reminds me the attack in Sri Lanka by the LTTE in 2007/2008 civil war. Upto 40 jets and the most of the Airbase was distroyed in that raid and the tactics employed by the LTTE at that time was similar to what the Taliban did today. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22898624 If it is already published. My appologies. Behind every myth lies a mystery, and every legend holds an echo of the truth …… Que Sera Sera "For not by numbers of men nor by measure of body but by valor of soul is war decided" Bilisarius " At the siege of Vienna in 1683 Islam seemed poised to overrun Christian Europe. Heroin @ $200 per gram 1 Harrier @ $35 million that's 175,000 grammes of stuff for a jet. (0.175 tonnes) so 6 of them would be just over a tonne of product. |

Where did they get those? Their Handlers? Could be... or missing American soldiers we don't know about... But their access to US uniforms opens really dangerous and dubious attack perspective. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 23181696 United States 09/16/2012 07:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It looks to me Taliban almost COPIED the attack on Sri Lankan airbase in 2008. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22898624 Lucky these Taliban didn't take control of the base. Hell of a job I should say to destroy that many jets in a single raid. Yep that was a close one. [link to www.telegraph.co.uk] The 1,600 acre site has over 28,000 people workking there. "In the intervening years, the base has grown in size, to cover around 20 square miles and now includes Bastion 1 and Bastion 2, Camp Leatherneck, home to thousands of US Marines and Camp Shorabak, the main Afghan National Army base in the province. In 2006, Bastion’s runway consisted of a 100-yard dirt strip, designed to handle three aircraft movements a week. Today it is one of the busiest UK-operated airports and currently handles 600 aircraft a day (18,000 a month), more traffic than Luton, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Leeds-Bradford or Coventry airports. As the years passed the Bastion, unimpeded by the distant possibility of a Taliban attack, grew in size to the garrison it is today. The camp boasts its own bottling plant capable of producing 15,000 gallons of drinking water a day. It has a field hospital, equipped with two portable x-ray machines, an operating theatre, radiographic equipment, CAT scanner and an intensive care unit capable of treating up to 20 seriously ill patients." |

ming User ID: 4143247 Norway 09/16/2012 07:44 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Erm...... weren't Harriers de-commissioned in 2011? Out of this ugliness may come, Some day, so beautiful a flower, That men will wonder at that hour, Remembering smoke and flowerless slum, And ask-glimpsing the agony Of the slaves who wrestle to be free- 'But why were all the poets dumb?' -William Montgomerie So many gods, so many creeds, So many paths that wind and wind, While just the art of being kind Is all the sad world needs. -Ella Wheeler Wilcox |
