Around the time of the single release for "Paparazzi", Lady Gaga was spotted multiple times walking around New York City with a Purple and Gold China Teacup and Saucer. The teacup has also made appearances in some talk shows Gaga has made guest appearances on. It may be seen in the **April 16, 2009 interview with Jonathan Ross while she explains the meaning behind "Poker Face". She later mentioned to the UK Sun the story behind the cup and saucer.
“I used to have tea at home with my mother everyday, you see. She hasn't got a name but she quite famous now,so I made her stay in today. I take her everywhere because she makes me feel at home. I also have a habit of drinking out of china because it makes me feel grounded. I don't think its a good life style to always be drinking out of paper, its very wasteful. ”

At the 2010 British Award Ceremony, the teacup joined Gaga onstage with her when she accepted her award for "Best International Artist". Gaga also mentioned while on 60 Minutes that she keeps a fake diamond in her tea cup when she gets nervous.
