Should a 12 year old view a rated R movie (uncensored)? | |

In my opinion nobody should watch most R rated movies, especially ones with stupid and crude humor, a good example would be "Ted" among many others. GREAT minds talk about IDEAS AVERAGE minds talk about EVENTS SMALL minds talk about PEOPLE Racism is a crime against humanity. “A good scientist is a person in whom the childhood quality of perennial curiosity lingers on. Why would you want children to go into the world clueless as to what reality holds? We know that seeing sex doesn't harm a child of that age, and people acting stupid can be used to show that such behavior isn't appropriate in reality. Violence is a harder issue, but odds are it will turn out we should all avoid seeing violent images when possible. But censorship isn't good. Ever. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 18335718 United States 09/16/2012 09:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I came up during a time where you didn't need to hear cussing on T.V., or see nudity, to enjoy it. If we were lucky, we got 3 channel's, and I was the remote. Some things should be left to the imagination. I am a 50 year old father of 5 kid's, 2 boy's, and 3 girl's, and 3 grand kid's, and I get uncomfortable being in the same room when my daughter's were in the room, watching something even a little suggestive. Modern day T.V. is the biggest downfall on society, and our kid's. They try to mimic what they see and hear. That is why the majority of kid's today have no respect for anyone in authority, police, parent's or teacher's. And to the person who stated that we if we don't remember when we were 12, yes I do. We did not sit in front of a T.V. all day, nor have cell phones, or internet. But what we did have was a wonderful world of imagination, were you could play cowboy & Indian's, ride our bike's, READ!!, camp out, and the list of things we did (legally) would surprise most kid's today. Take your kid's fishing, camping, and go outside. Hell, most schools don't even have P.E. anymore! And we wonder why all these kid's are over weight!! |

Or: You and your child are swimming in a Public Pool, except instead of chlorinated water it's filled with raw sewage. You're asking if you should let your child check out the deep end. Trust God that your child will be who he is and is supposed to be. Do your best, but don't sweat the small stuff. |

Quoting: Pa resident1 I found out today that hubby's mother took him to rated R movies when he was 12 (this was back in the 70's). First one he saw was cheech and chong's up in smoke. Out in your face stuff they do understand, at least that they understand what they are seeing, but it just leaves them left with more questions than anything else. I disagree with allowing movies like that for 12 yr. olds. |

When I say NO I will get much criticism but I say no anyway. 12 year olds maybe smart enough to watch something but they are still too mentally not mature enough Their minds are still growing and the images they see in these types of things are too much for them to handle at this age. 12 is too young Do you want your daughter to grow up fast and become a woman of the world before her time?? And maybe become pregnant? or have risky sex? If the answer is yes; then show her a lot of r rated shows These things, not matter what anyone says, influence a young and growing mind |
