Politicized Islam began to get a hold in the 50's in the universities, mostly founded by the Muslim Brotherhood. In the 60's Afghanistan adopted a more Liberal constitution. Early 70's the Islamics gained enough to outnumber the communists in the universities...by the late 70's the Communist peoples party govt and the Islamic movment began to fight...the USSR invaded in 79 to back the govt...the rest is pretty much history...
 Quoting: SHR

Wasn't just Islamists fighting the communists.

The Northern Alliance was not Islamist.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21549080

The UF...aka Northern alliance wasn't formed until 1996...and yes they were Islamic...they were just different tribes than the Taliban, who they formed up to resist, not the Soviets.
 Quoting: SHR

No, the Northern Alliance wasn't called the Northern Alliance until the 90s. They were still there fighting the communists. Including the lion of Panjshir. He was one of those University students you speak of and was a muslim but no Islamist.

The Northern Tribes or Northern Alliance fought the Islamists long before we ever did. They support dance and musical festivals and all kinds of culture including ancient buddhist sites.

Learn before you speak.

Part of this downfall was Caused by the Soviet invasion and War.
Yet Fundamentalist Islam is also partly to blame
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5583279

Sent in by the globalists to move Islam into the west. They had to destroy & destabilize the entire region.

USSR-Afghan War 1979-1989
US-Iraq GW I 1990 (10 years of sanctions and no fly zone)
US-Iraq GW II 2001-2011
US-Afghan 2001-ongoing

2011 Washington backed Muslim Brotherhood led revolutions:

Tunisia
Yemen
Libya
Egypt
Syria
Iran?
 Quoting: Klink 23970153

btw, how is Washington backing revolution in Yemen when they are bombing the holy hell out of the revolutionary islamatards?

Ghadafi had to go and the Muslim Brotherhood lost the election in libya, so yes you are a tard.

The US did the complete opposite of backing the Egyptian revolutionaries, we supported the dictator mubarak for decades. Same thing that happened to Iran and how that once great nation was destroyed, we installed a dictator and it destroyed their society.

We aren't doing anything to support the Syria rebels. However our Gulf allies are.

And we had nothing to do with Tunisia.

You are dumb.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21549080

Says you.. wrong on all counts.

The US backed the Saudis to attack & destabilize Yemen.

The new Libyan PM was backed by MB.

Egypt's new security council was formed with the MB, and their leader was elected president of Egypt.

Supported Mubarak? Yes. Then came time to destabilize the region and cause this mass-emigration of Islam into the west. Same as Libya.

We are not supporting the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood rebels, Washington is. Both ran by the Freemason's conspiracy.

Washington allied with Muslim Brotherhood

The Muslim Brotherhood have formed the opposition Council in Syria

ISTANBUL - At a meeting of Syria's opposition, Muslim Brotherhood officials gather round Marxists colleagues, nudging them to produce policy statements for the Syrian National Council, the main political group challenging President Bashar al-Assad.

Yet that is what happened. Islam began to emigrate into the west, including to the USSR. The USSR supported this as an attack on the Orthodox.

The way to know the motivation for the wars is simply to look at the outcome.
 Quoting: Klink 23970153

No it is not. The USSR was NOT the "West". USSR already wiped out the Orthodox church just as the wiped out Islam in their satellite nations.

You are way out their and don't even have a basic understand of history.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21549080

It is you with a poor history washed of basic facts. You are stuck in this capitalist vs communist when all sides are ran by the bigger conspiracy, and they are moving Islam into the west. This is what has happened. Demographics is the mother of politics.

The USSR was taken by the Illuminati world revolution in 1917; they are the Freemason Templars and want to reduce the numbers of Orthodox since this is historic foe of the Vatican. Putin is also their man and supports the Islamization. He has a Muslim girlfriend and love child. Putin was KGB which is ran by the Vatican's secret societies who founded it, but you should know all about this.

No need to go further as you are to compartmentalized.

OP is an idiot. Afghanistan has been Muslim and just as traditional as it is today - and for a very loing time. What you are seeing is before the Soviets and now the US/NATO decided to try to invade.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1142961

BEFORE radical groups dominated.

The recent resurgence of the Taliban in parts of Afghanistan has, once again, attracted attention to this poor and relatively isolated Central Asian country for its notoriety as a haven for extremist Islamism. Islam has been a key element of Afghan identity for centuries. But it was only during the anti-Soviet Afghan Jihad (1979-88) and the ensuing civil war (1992-2001) that religious traditionalism gave way to the radical ideas inspired by Saudi Arabian Wahhabism and South Asian Deobandi orthodoxy.Even today the Taliban’s harsh and austere fundamentalism does not appeal to a majority of Afghans. Radical Islam has been kept alive in Afghanistan, however, by a combination of ethno-tribal dynamics and external factors, notably Pakistan’s desire to control Afghan foreign policy—the history of which is long and complicated.

Sharia law dictates that each judge (religious or not) has their own decision upon each case. No decisions on prior cases need to be looked at nor legally are binding to the one in front of them at the time.

Excellent post OP...one of my best friends in the world is an Afghan who escaped Kabul as the Soviets were invading. A very interesting educated man, over the years as he grew to trust me he would tell me how he and his cousin would sneak back into Afghanistan to visit his extended family( After the Soviets left). I could always tell when he was going back for a visit, he would grow a beard! BTW he hated the Taliban

I watched a doco which showed Saudi Arabia trained the militants there.

Their beliefs are those of the Saudis.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 945308

The Arabs forced Islamofascism on the Afghani people in the 8th and 9th centuries. I don't see much hope in their being able to shake it off.

They're doomed because the secularists have lost again and sharia law has been written into their new constitution.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23911369

Islam is falling apart at the seams.. The noted Egyptian scholar Mufti Muhammad Abd'uh (d.1905) visited Paris a hundred years ago. Upon his return to Egypt he startled the world by declaring, "In Europe I saw no Muslims, I saw Islam. In Egypt I see Muslims, I see no Islam!" Allama Inayatullah Khan Al-Mashriqi in the 1940's depicted the state of the Muslims in this way: "I saw oppression, slavery, poverty, pomp and vanity, detestable vices, clusters of disease, burnt forests, cold ovens, barren fields, dirty attire and useless hands and feet. I saw imams (religious leaders) without followings. I saw brothers who were foes unto one another. I saw days without purpose and I saw nights which lead to no dawns."

Shabbir Ahmed wrote more recently that "The so-called billion plus Muslims are Muslims without Islam! Their political, economic and social conditions paint a complete picture of misery and chaos wherever they live. Apparently the tree bearing such bad fruit should be blameworthy. Isn't a tree known by the fruit it bears? ... The tree of sectarianism among Muslims has grown to such heights, and fatwas (religious edicts) of infidelity have become so popular that there exists not a single Muslim in the world today who would be unanimously accepted as a Muslim by the Ulema (or Mullahs) of any two sects! (According to a Turkish scholar now these sects number 190!) The followers of Islam, which introduced the concept of international brotherhood, are hopelessly divided among themselves."

Shabbir Ahmed argues that " .. today almost all the one billion plus Muslims in the world are Muslims by birth and by blind following, the kind of Islam which the Quran considers of no merit.... More than one billion people who call themselves Muslims are so only by name. They have fallen from the high platform of DEEN (The Divinely Prescribed Way of Life) into the swamp of MAZHAB (rituals of worship to achieve individual salvation plus blind following of human 'authorities' and senseless non-Quranic dogmas)." Afghanistan was a popular holiday destination in my lifetime. As was Iran and Lebanon. When Afghanistan and Iran were kingdoms they were modern and full of educated people. Beirut used to be called "The Paris of the Middle East". It was a cosmopolitan city. Then the Muslims moved in and turned it to shit.
