Tomorrow is Sept. 18. (it will be starting in just a few hours.) I expect it to be commemorated in some way this year.

Sept. 18 is the memorial day for the Japanese murder spree in Nanjing.

Hong Kong (CNN) -- The newly appointed Japanese ambassador to China has died after taking ill and collapsing in Tokyo late last week.

In a brief statement, the Japanese Foreign Ministry confirmed Shinichi Nishimiya, 60, died on Sunday after spending the weekend in hospital because of his "health condition." He collapsed just two days after being appointed to the job.

The ministry did not disclose any further details about what had happened.

I know we need oil, but we Americans also want our 'toys' - cars, computers, TVs, video games, etc... .

Japan does a lot of manufacturing in China. If this keeps up, there are going to be a lot of cranky Americans on Christmas... .

Excellently put, xx. China is going to become more and more unstable as their economy shrinks. The real estate market is in horrific shape, and no one is really reporting it except the Australians, and many factories are dark - weak orders from the West.

What will they do to bolster it? War? hummm.

China’s incoming leader re-emerged this weekend after an unexplained two-week absence, just in time to see the country he’s about to inherit consumed with rabid anti-Japanese nationalism that his Communist Party unleashed, and which the United States warned on Sunday could lead to a regional war.

Beijing’s rapidly deteriorating relationship with Tokyo will top the agenda as Xi Jinping takes over as general secretary of the Communist Party from President Hu Jintao, a promotion expected as early as next month. While Mr. Xi will continue to share power with Mr. Hu for months afterward, the stakes could scarcely be higher for his first test.

This is all fine. I'll be worried when Chinese Gov't officials start to kick out, then nationalize Japanese factories. When that happens, then you can start worrying.

Why should I worry about that? It involves two other countries on the far side of the wide Pacific Ocean.

I think China has revealed it's true face.

Western companies dismantling their own manufacturing sectors to save a buck on cheap child labor are traitors IMO.

But it wouldn't take long to re-industrialize our own manufacturing sectors. So I say fuck them and their cheap, crappy goods.
