A well placed .22 is more effective than a misplaced .45 They make some .22 handguns that hold something like 18 rounds. More rounds, cheaper ammo, cheaper gun, lighter gun, more concealable, less recoil...Complainers about lack of power start to really lose arguments when weighed against the positives. Even without the knockdown power, imagine how awful the bad guy's gonna feel with 18 holes in him.
