US embassy in Cairo warned of possible violence

Intelligence cable reportedly was sent to embassy and Egyptian officials to warn of violence in response to anti-Muslim film.

A US intelligence cable warned the American embassy in Cairo of possible violence in response to Arabic-language broadcasts of clips from an anti-Muslim film, US government sources said on Monday.

The cable, dispatched from Washington on Sept. 10, the day before protests erupted, advised the embassy the broadcasts could provoke violence. It did not direct specific measures to upgrade security, said the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity.. [link to www.jpost.com]

So "disclosure" is on the way, the people are being prepared for it.

...Copies of the cable were not sent to other U.S. outposts in the region, including the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, where violence took the life of U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans. The ties between the Benghazi violence and the crude anti-Muslim film are still unclear.

The sources said the cable, which is still classified, was sparked by the broadcast on Saturday, September 8 by al-Nas, an Egyptian satellite TV network, of what its presenters described as extracts from an English-language film denigrating the Prophet Mohammad...

It was 9/11 anniversary. I don't know how long that will mean anything to the gov't but the attackers were waiting for it. The gov't will now be proved to have sent a useless cable, lack of security on said date, disregard for their own property and people really. They should know better..or maybe WOULD no better.. if they read an intel brief once in awhile.

However, under standard diplomatic procedures, Egyptian government officials and security forces were notified of U.S. concerns, since host governments are responsible for ensuring the security of foreign diplomatic missions on their soil, the sources said. [link to www.newsmax.com]

not an embassy

the CIA got it's ass kicked

During the NATO bombing of Tripoli and Kadaffi's forces, the rebel capital was Benghazi. Stevens was the US representative to the "transitional" Gov't of the "rebels". That's why the US had what was essentially its consulate there, rather than in Tripoli.

When hilary called all the ambassadors together, many thought there would be some kind of action or event...none happened...

then you have to ask...

are the ones that were called in, the ones who went back out...

as in, the ambassadors out there today, are they the same ones as a year or two a go????

or were they switched out?

you know, disposables put in place???
