Wizard's First Rule User ID: 1026045 United States 09/17/2012 04:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Already saw it on Hulu+ a week ago ... it was okay Wizard's Rule #1: "People are stupid. Given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. People will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People’s heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool." Primordial Rule: "The rule unwritten. It is the secret of all life. It is the essence of life itself. You are a creator and master of your own reality. You ultimately make your own rules." I just hate that everyone is all clean cut and looks like they just stepped out of a beauty salon. Quoting: Quant I am glad someone else is irritated that the characters have nice clothes, hair etc.... After 15 years of no electricity, I would still look like hell. |

Jericho was a classic example of that. way too clean for the given scenario but a good story line, at least for the first season. i can tune that part out if the story flies. thanks for the reminder. Anonymous Coward User ID: 1110734 United States 09/17/2012 11:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's bad. So weak, though it could have been something interesting. I blame it on the writing as one of the heavyweights from Breaking Bad is a villain, and he seemed to be embarrassed to be in the pilot. Why must they insist on people wearing unrealistic clothing post-collapse. It's silly. There's no way they could fabricate them. Things would be made of flax and wool, things they could grow only without electricity. From a prepper and pioneer skills point of view, the tech that they're using is absurd 15 years after a collapse. If they use swords and bows, well, show they being forged and steam treating the yews or osage orange wood, not something that looks to be made of high tech plastics. I mean, without electricity, something as simple as canning and preserving would be complicated since the lids would have to pressed and manufactured in very old tech ways. Watch it if nothing else is on. There's no reason to make the character's seem superhumanly fast and as adroit as a Chinese kung fu flick. The samurai, the medieval swordsmen from through Western and Eastern Europe and the Middle East, all were quite amazing enough. It's a missed opportunity to see some historical fighting that we'd have to revert to, aspects like wearing armor would be important again Hell, someone in 15 years would have created flintlocks, but we're fresh on the heels of The Hunger Games, so got to use only archery. If you've got someone using dc power and batteries, well explain how you made the battery acid and lead cores, and make it plausible, not just make some Rube Goldberg computer transmitting data. I mean, it's possible, but explain it, since it's cool. Think, 15 years after no manufacturing. LEDs are gone, components fried that we're not shielded. All interesting to postulate how to harvest stuff. The idea of downloading a library...well there's lots of preppers who've done that in case of a collapse, so it's not as if it's something you ewww and ahhh over, unless the USB data is directly explaining the conspiracy. You could have watched it early on hulu, last week. |

Five-Star Bandit User ID: 8086429 United States 09/17/2012 11:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The plot looks somewhat to Jericho, which I loved. Plus JJ Abrams puts out great shows. loved Jericho, watched the pilot tonight, it was alright..but no Jericho "The sick individual finds himself at home with all other similarly sick individuals. The whole culture is geared to this kind of pathology. The result is that the average individual does not experience the separateness and isolation the fully schizophrenic person feels. He feels at ease among those who suffer from the same deformation; in fact, it is the fully sane person who feels isolated in the insane society — and he may suffer so much from the incapacity to communicate that it is he who may become psychotic"..Erich Fromm |

That show had some silly moments like the IRS agent trying to collect back taxes, what nonsense, but there were great episodes about dealing with tactics, energy production, slavery, etc. It never should been canceled the way it was. |
