If it occurs at 1am......many people who live on the coast will not find out?

The quakes are rather small..... 2.5, 2.6 etc.

I live 50 miles inland, shouldn't reach that far but it would suck for sure.

No tsunami. If there is a rather large EQ, then the possibility for a tsunami would exist. As of now, no tsunami

Yes...volcanic quakes are characteristically small in nature....

If that particular valcano goes off there is a chance of a major landslide which would cause a tusnami so think about that.

Should be right in New York as long as you can climb stairs with speed.

How far inland would the tsunami go and how far north?

It is an unlikely event but an extraordinarily doomy one, even fifty miles inland....

I watched this video earlier today.
A tsunami is not eminent. Mary is simply keeping us abreast of a potential happening. It would depend of which island slid for the height.

it's going to take so many factors to play out perfectly for this to ever happen. The odds are probably 1/100^100.

Scientist have already stated that an earthquake in the Canary Islands strong enough to cause land slides would send a 200 foot wall of water straight to our east coast.

Following days of almost continual earthquakes, residents of the small Canary island of El Hierro are once again living in fear of a volcanic eruption as their island begins to lift.
According to the National Geographic Institute of Spain, increases in seismic activity on the island has seen literally hundreds of earthquakes, known as a swarm, shaking the island and gradually increasing in strength since June 25. Around 750 earthquakes have been recorded although few have been strong enough to be felt by the residents until the last two days
The island has been placed on yellow alert by the security committee in charge of operations as the earthquakes increase. The largest so far was registered at 4.0 on the Richter scale on Wednesday June 27.

More frightening for the approximately 10,000 residents is the fact that a bulge has developed in the island, lifting it five centimetres in four days.


Now, for a quick touch of reality here....what is important to the East Coast of the Us is La Palma...the island US a Volcano and it is being split in two by it....the fear is a large enough eruption would cause the west side of the island to slip into the ocean violently (Very feasible) and it would be this action that could cause a possible 300ft tall, yes I said 300ftto hit the entire east coast of the US.

Is it possible? You betcha! Is this "it"? Probably not....

Actually if it were La Palma it very well could.....
