Re: Heart palpitations the past few days?
I've had them off and on for years. They've never lasted more than a day or two but recently after a week of constant palpitations I went to doc and my thyroid was too high. Gone now.

Re: Heart palpitations the past few days?
I had this. Went to the dr and it was explained like this:
The palpatations weren't coming and going. They had likely been there since I was born. But most people arent too aware of their own heart beat. But when I was feeling the palpatations, my blood pressure was high. They were particularly noticeable when I was pregnant. So even though I dont feel them now i know they are still there. Just unnoticed.

Weird, Ive had them too..

Last time this happened..went to hospital and they said I was dehydrated..

Past few days, they've been pretty bad, bad enough to make me cough and feel weak.

Re: Heart palpitations the past few days?
Hormone imbalance

Thyroid problems

Dehydration

High blood pressure

Too much potassium or too little

Try drinking more water and get yourself to an endocrinologist to check all your levels.

The best test is the Adrenal Stress Profile - will let you know how all your body's hormones are doing throughout the day - testosterone, progesterone, DHEA, melatonin, adrenal hormones, the whole lot of them. Awesome test - done by taking saliva samples in a certain manner throughout the day and sending them into the lab. Then you need a doctor or an alternative medicine MD to let you know what glands or levels are off and what you can do. I prefer the natural method as glandular supplements and glandular support supplements are really the best way to go the first time around.

It's $229 for the test sent to your home, but it's so worth it... [link to www.alignlife.com (secure)]

Or, I also suggest finding an Indian doctor that practices ayurvedic medicine to diagnose you by looking at your irises, your pulse, and your tongue. It is shocking sometimes what they can see in just five minutes that way - I saw a doctor on the DR. OZ show do that and it was quite impressive. No expensive tests or invasive exams or blood labs, just a once-over and a few questions that confirmed what he was seeing. I love alternative medicine and I think many countries have approaches that actually are advanced in their diagnostics and cures.

Agree with everything already posted and plan to try ayurveda myself based on what I just read.
I'd like to add that just about any drug you take may deplete magnesium and even without drugs, our diets are typically low. LOw mag can cause any of the symptoms for which one may take cardiac drugs, and these drugs all further deplete mag.
A good way to supplement is Magnesium citrate sold in any drugstore in laxative section in glass bottles. Laxative dose is whole bottle, but for a daily nutritional supplement, a couple of tablespoons.

Re: Heart palpitations the past few days?
I had the same thing and it turned out to be something called a Pericardial Effusion. Apparently it's a sac of fluid around the heart and is caused by an infection
