-- all will be high demand barter items.

You have property, get rabbits now. They're fairly easy to keep and provide a lean meat source that is fairly quickly to replenish. (yes, I understand you have the ability to hunt - this provides calories with much less caloric expenditure; especially in the winter)

Of the most important; get skill sets and familiarity using them in your particular geographic location. If you believe you are pretty well set with skill sets, then find new/ alternate/ additional ones that you can learn now while the learning curve is in your favor.

assume you have a backup generator for alternative power and your source water is coming from a well. Make sure your well pump is easily adaptable to plug into the generator if needed. I would also make sure you have a lots of rechargeable batteries (AA, C, D, etc.) and a few chargers to be able to plug in your portable citizens band radio and walkie talkies

Bartering material: Booze, Cigarettes and Weed!

A really good pair of boots, like the professional workers wear not wannabee boots that are sold at most regular stores.

Heres a good way to Fish for water...

If you live near the west coast or where theres fog or lots of dew, build a large lite vertical frame, place small 6d nails about 1/8th apart across the top and bottom of frame, angle the bottom nails down, run fishing line up and down between the nails tight, place a peice of raingutter under frame and angle one end down and place bucket under that end. Water will condense on fishing line run down and drip from the bottom angled nail into the gutter then bucket....Old west coast indian trrck...enjoy it...
Also. always be ready for rain...dig a hole line with plastic, two layers use dirt from hole to hold plastic in place around edge and leave a very large peice for a rain catch flap...if it rains fold out flap that will run rain water into hole,The flap has to be higher then hole so dig on hill, run flap uphill, after rain use flap to cover the hole to avoid evaporation and junk in water...black plastic sheet works best, use one large peice and fold back and forth to line hole and leave flap....100gal = 2' x 7 'x 1' deep hole.

FILTER ALL WATER for drinking and cooking!!!!!!!
have some bleach on hand, add 5 drops per gal
and get a pump up garden sprayer, black or paint black for solar heating...have a shower if you have the extra water and spray clean instead of TP...
Just remember....DONT EAT THE YELLOW SNOW!!!!...LOL

Watch the rabbits...make sure you cook your Husenffer very well...WORMS...and not alot of fat, but tasty!!! we have hunderd of wild here....I guess they breed like rabbits!! LOL

Worms shouldn't be much of an issue if you're keeping the rabbits clean, specifically raising the rabbits in elevated hutches and making sure the water, food, and especially the bedding is changed regularly.

Per cooking- rabbit and most other small game should always be cooked as you would chicken - making sure it is done all the way to the bone. When the meat runs clear juices when cooking is the tell-tale sign that it should be cooked all the way to the bone, though a thermometer (if available) assures achieving 160* +.

We dont need no stinking hutches...LOL Ive got wild rabbits, Doc! I go out my door in the early morning to about 50 of them all the time...Their so dam cute...Dog has lots of fun too....Good info though...thanks

The reference to hutches is for raising your own. This means no dependence on a uncertain/ diminishing quantities (predators, disease, other people), but just as importantly generating an easily kept protein source - even in an urban environment - that is readily available for harvest without expending many calories.

Regarding food, focus on those kinds of food you knnow will contributed to keep healthy and in shape. Also, learn basic techniques of food preservation, i.e. learn how to make sauerkraut which is very high quality food.

I almost forgot.
Also learn basic techniques and methods for curing or alleviating the most frequent or probably wounds and illnesses, and if there are young women in your group and chances are you will be on your own for several months, you might learn essential obstetric skills... Imagine if nobody in your group has any ability in it.

Books....with the possibility of no power.....books on health, preserving food, building things, fixing things, any information on your computer you want to save--print out.

You will need to know how to preserve meats, ferment foods, dry foods....

Do you have animals?

Growing your food, growing your healing herbs, animals to breed--dogs can be good protection and an early warning system, goats, sheep, horses, cows, pigs....

If you can breed the animals--any extra offspring would be good for trade.

Fabric, extra shoes, learn to make your own soap.

Again, a few good books on the above subjects--also a book on native plants--which are edible or not.

Well noW.
It seems to me you are already providing for a dystopian scenario and there will be no civilization anymore for generations to come...

Basic techniques i.e. methods which have proven their worth are cheap and easy to apply, such as the Kneipp method (hot and cold water baths), even methods such as Japanese Do-In; but, of course, also technical skills such as setting fractured limbs. One could think of lots more along these lines.

Too bad you're in the wrong part of the country. you are as good as dead, sorry.

You don't need to stockpile it.
You can distill it yourself, lots of Russians in their outbacks there in Siberia do it themselves.

Having ham radio seems a good thing a first sight but it can also get you detected by people you would rather wish they stay away. Or am I wrong ? I don't know much about the technical side of this.
