Who says Jesus is referring to a wife he already had. What about the fact that it clearly states He is the bridegroom and WILL get married (and we are invited to the wedding feast). A piss poor translation, it is probably referring to his "bride" which is common term used to describe the church body.

But how does this make Christ any less divine? How does this make him any less holy? How does this change his message of peace and love? It doesn't...

Well, being married would take away some of his supernatural, godly sheen. It humanizes him. And then, he surely would have had kids, and they apparently weren't remarkable compared to their dad seeing that there are no stories about them. If he was married.
