Yet another reason we need to get away from the stupid primaries in the first place. Why does Iowa and New Hampshire have such a hold on the process.
That is why so much pork has been shoved into ethanol and HFCS is to buy the votes for the Iowa primaries. It needs to stop.

Yeah the 1.5-year old long Primary/nominating process can be annoying... but at least the people who emerge are for the most battle-tested, vetted and able to cope with prolonged period of stress and strategize. Even Obama, you can disagree with his ideology or policies vehemently as I do, but as the many opponents who under-estimated him will begrudgingly attest to you, the man is presidential.
In other countries, where nominating process is very short, very opaque, where the candidates are much less known, they don't have to debate, campaign and duke it out... thus it's MUCH easier to have someone either not ready for office or just being an installed puppet.
