Gubmint parasites never understand that there are unintended consequences for their TSA and their rules and taxes and regulations.

Or perhaps they do.

Peak Oil is a real bitch, isn't it? Combine that with the massive destruction of the USA's manufacturing base and the devaluation of the dollar and it's bye bye birdie. Imagine that - broke people just can't afford the now enormous cost of airfare!

They always said that the Airlines would be the first thing to go...

Just a couple of layoff/closure stories from local area. This been going on a while now, only seems to be intensifying.

Oh well. They choose to participate in the TSA farce, they deserve it. Not to mention American Airlines may be the single worst airline out there.

Worker morale, that's rich. Have you been in an airport lately? The people that work there and on the aircraft are some of the cuntiest motherfuckers you will ever have the displeasure of coming into contact with. They should be happy they have jobs, but they'd rather verbally abuse customers and complain to anyone listening about anything. There is no morale, there is only discord and self loathing. Fuck airports. Fuck airlines. Fuck these employees.

you know why? so that there will be more available pilots when war breaks out, meaning they will be drafted into the airforce because of there already technical skills

This.

If business drops off due to people not wanting to fly and airlines go out of business, then the TSA will go out of businesses will go under as well.

Agree. Just awful behavior. I remember flying in the 90's and how pleasant it was. Free meal, nice stewards, in fact all of the workers were friendly. I know quite a few people now who just choose to drive due to the shenanigans of the TSA. Most of them are parents with children because we've decided not to subject our kids to that treatment.

I used to enjoy going in the states for a Nascar race (from Canada) or for business before the TSA. I never went back to a Nascar race since and I told my boss I don't want to travel in the states unless it is the last resort. Too bad..

They deserve everything they get. Mind you we have it bad here too. I will not step foot in an airport ever again if I can avoid it.

I guess by the conservative mindset, these workers who will be laid off will join the 47% of lazy, government teat sucking bums that they loathe so much.

No way the commie's at dhs are going to dissolve their checkpoint goons...all they'll do is install them sooner than planned to movie theaters, concerts, sporting arenas, malls, high-skool sport fields, and every state/county/city line checking everything we own and our destinations..."papers please!"

Our freedom of travel and movement is history.
And people accepted it in the name of "safety & security"
Disgusting.

Perhaps the 11,159 will now be hired at TSA to accommodate the above mentioned and help absorb the outrageous unemployment numbers...after all, they're well trained and conditioned for this shit redface

Never happen. As noted by another poster gubmint agencies don't go out of business, they expand, even if the original rationale no longer exists. This is especially true if they have police powers.

Look at the fed "agency" that originally came about because of prohibition. When prohibition was repealed, they morphed into the BATF.

Once gubmint seizes a power they don't let it go.
