Anonymous Coward User ID: 24106062 Canada 09/20/2012 06:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Read it close, this is all BS in the name of raising your water prices and importing and taxing your rice. Quoting: Chrit Snip: It is almost impossible to say how dangerous these levels are without a benchmark from the federal government. Consumer Reports uses New Jersey's drinking water standard - a maximum of 5 micrograms in a liter of water - as comparison because it is one of the strictest in the country. But it is unclear how accurate it is to compare arsenic levels in water and arsenic levels in rice - most people consume more water than rice, so drinking water standards may need to be tougher. [link to www.foxnews.com] This is timely propaganda. We have known for over 30 years that the average grain of rice grown in the U.S. runs at 260 parts per billion. But in China their rice contains less than 150 PPB. They are going to force us to stop growing rice and import it, follow the money on this story. At the same time they will demand we remove ALL the arsenic form water and that will not be cheap so they can further raise rates and hurt the farmers. Currently water has to have less than 10 PPB or 5 PBB if it is bottled water. Again they are trying to kill an industry and export it to china. Next they will demand people close their wells and get municipal drinking water because 20% of wells in the country are over the 10PPB limit. Alternatively, perhaps the scientists' evil plan was to try to convince congress that the process of intentionally putting arsenic-filled chicken feces on your rice fields is a bad idea and should not be done anymore. Go even further down the rabbit hole and you might find that these scientsts hope that their "propaganda" might even lead to US farmers no longer intentionally feeding their chicken arsenic. They's evil, pure evil I tells ya! |

SilverPatriot User ID: 18456813 United States 09/20/2012 07:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | One has to wonder what the motives are of the FDA in pointing out the arsenic content in rice but not chicken. Hysteria over arsenic in rice misleading to US public Recent media stories based on studies about high levels of arsenic in rice are misleading the public about this issue, and the USA Rice Federation issued a statement addressing concerns about arsenic and rice. Because arsenic is ubiquitous and present in air, soil, water, and foods, dietary exposure to arsenic comes from a variety of different sources, including fruits, fruit juice, vegetables and other grains. There currently are no standards or limits for arsenic in food. Among the four infant cereals tested, we found varying levels of arsenic, even in the same brand. Gerber SmartNourish Organic Brown Rice cereal had one sample with the highest level of total arsenic in the category at 329 ppb, and another sample had the lowest total level in this category at 97.7 ppb. It had 0.8 to 1.3 micrograms of inorganic arsenic per serving. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3738979 Earth’s Best Organic Whole Grain Rice cereal had total arsenic levels ranging from 149 ppb to 274 ppb, but higher levels of inorganic arsenic per serving, from 1.7 to 2.7 micrograms. Anonymous Coward User ID: 19084541 United States 09/20/2012 09:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is propaganda, pure and simple. Just a few months ago, there were limits on how many pounds of rice one could buy at one time, so tptb KNOW people are "prepping" and stashing rice and other foods that store well. How to stop? Well, we COULD say it's all POISONED and people will DIE if they feed it to their families. OMG!!!! Who wants to do THAT?!?!?!?! OMG!!!! STOP buying rice. STARVE rather than stock up on rice............ It's bogus. We've been eating the same "poisoned" rice forever. and some of us have died, and some of us are still here.......... |

c saw User ID: 13641814 United States 09/21/2012 12:46 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Cook it in a 6 to 1 ratio of water to rice? WTF? That would be nothing but rice floating around in water. You can't cook rice like that, unless you want rice soup. The ratio to make rice, (white) is 1 cup of rice to 1 cup of water. Blech. Why all of a sudden now is rice bad? Has it always been this way? Or is this something new that just happened to rice? from asia... place enough rice in the pan to reach the first joint of your index finger.... add enough water to meet the second joint of the your index finger... doesn't matter what pan you use. bring to a boil, cover and SIMMER 20 mins. light and fluffy rice every time |

warriorsbond User ID: 24395869 United States 10/03/2012 10:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OH spread the FEAR!!! There has always been arsenic in rice!! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24087587 Its natural and found everywhere in nature... Except this is inorganic arsenic and at high doses due to poor farming and industrial practices and it could kill you. But hey if you think that's natural well yes...dying after eating poison is natural. They just dont want to tell you the truth, like usual!! Its Radiation!!! Arsenic is the cover!! I'm sure there's some radioactivity in the rice too, I heard it took about 15 years for it to fall to background levels in most European food after Chernobyl. But those are separate issues. At least you thought of that. I have not. Thanks. :D |
