Does anyone not see the stupidity in this statement?

"BREAKING: Large Cache of US Weapons Found in Damascus. US Treasury says Iran Airlifting Weapons to Assad!"

Why would Iran have US weapons?

If they're in Damascus, the US put them there.

And what does the US Treasury have to do with weapons intelligence?

If you would have read the article(s) you would know that the Treasury imposes financial sanctions.

And the weapons issue is 2 different things. Apparently found a cache of weapons and ammo was found from NATO supplied for the resistance movement.

And Iran is supplying the other side (Assad regime) with weapons.

Treasury Department is also that under which the BATFE is designated. Has been since preceding Elliot Ness in the days of Prohibition

Then it should say "ATF", not Treasury. The Coast Guard is a department of DHS now, but you wouldn't say the DHS is doing something if it is a Coast Guard vessel.

Agreed, but I didn't write the article. Moreover, the BATFE really has no authority outside the US and it's territories, so using "Treasury Department" does lead the reader to believing this coming from the US Government (riding the coat tails of State Department), opposed to a smaller subsidiary thereof.

Of course, we do all know how well The Department of Treasury/ BATFE has performed at controlling and accounting for various arms between the US and Mexico, so it is a short stretch to believe how they're surely up to this tasking in Syria.

Oh, wait...
