Is the beginning of "Jericho" happening?

For those of us who watched Jericho, when Jake is driving listening to the radio, the "president" is addressing congress about global violence escalations and then the EMP zaps the broadcast.

I do understand well, the difference between fiction and reality but there are an uncanny amount of parallels to real life such as Ravenwood to Blackwater, Jackson Rawles (or whatever the name is of the company that comes in with money and logistics) to Halliburton, etc.

Makes one wonder.....
