This is why I've been telling everyone since 3.20.11 to stay out of the rain, if possible. Pets, too.
The contamination will continue to fall with rain and snow.
There is a reason it's called 'fallout'.

I remember March time of last year, my nose was constantly plugged and stuffed with weird yellow-ish pollen looking substance. I thought it was massive amounts of pollen in Seattle that spring, but something makes me think otherwise. Never encountered that yellow powder stuff in the air before or since.

That was the fall out
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5795678

Any reason for the color and substance? I'll ask my parents, they lived in the eastern bloc during Chernobyl, what they experienced.

Uranium (yellowcake) is yellow. Yellow powder.

Life does not give us the opportunity to be perfectly safe...especially after being downwind of a nuclear disaster.

but we can still be SAFER or STUPIDER, the choice is ours. Some risk will always be there... the question becomes how much more do you want to add to it voluntarily?

A University of California Daily Bruin article entitled “Remembering Chernobyl,” documents how children in Belarus happily splashed around in puddles of yellow rain having been assured by Russian authorities that it was merely pollen, when in fact it was a toxic mixture of radioactivity that had been blasted from the Chernobyl plant 80 miles away.
Thinking back to 20 years ago, it’s the splashing in yellow rainwater that Antonina Sergieff vividly recalls.
“We all jumped in the puddles with the yellow stuff. … You don’t see (it in) the air, it doesn’t materialize. But when you see the yellow dust, you see radiation,” Sergieff said.
When these elements first reached Sergieff 20 years ago, they came in the form of yellow rain.
It was not long after that residents in her hometown knew it wasn’t simply “pollen” – which is what government officials assured them, she said.
The effects of this “pollen” soon confirmed that those puddles of yellow rain contained something far more sinister, namely iodine-131, caesium-137, strontium-90 and plutonium-239.
“Soon, people started losing their hair, pictures of deformed animals sprouted up in independent newspapers, and incidences of cancer in Belarus skyrocketed, Sergieff said. According to the U.N. brief, cases of breast cancer in Belarus doubled between 1988 and 1999, among other increases.”

People wondering about fallout on crops should know where their food comes from.
All food will not be affected.. some will.
The real problem for the future is bio-accumulation and concentrations up the food chain.

California produce and fruit is suspect. Anything grown out west is possibly contaminated. Pacific ocean product.
There are no good answers.
The people and facilities with the expertise and equipment to measure radioactivity in food are MIA.

Look at the plume simulations and decide for yourself.

Just a side note. I watched a report on the Weather Channel, were the guy posted a map of the prevailing winds over the Pacific. I swear to good the image showed the winds moving East from Japan than going North than turning south , than due north again. Than ending or.. stopping, all west of Hawaii. He points this out, Than turns to the camera and shruggs. I swear, this happened. I immediatly went to there site and tried to retrive the broadcast from the link for the story but the video was gone.

A. Kg of Coffee serves you ca. 25 Times as much!

(a Kg Coffee hold ca. 1.000 Bq)

The first Rain in Middle Europe came down
with much more than 25.000 Bq a Liter!

It is important to look for Information
but to use the number of Particles
instead of Bq. is very weak!

This is a try of: "it must, it must"!!!

Posted at LEAST 6-7 replies, and one thread on on gamma radiation in milk in the first months after this happened.

Practically pleaded with people to buy LAST YEARS flour, canned fruits and veggies as you could be CERTAIN they had NO radiation in the food ! Said it would be the LAST time you could be certain, as the radiation would be continuous, as well as the plants/trees absorbing SAME through their root system and depositing it in the food you were going to EAT. Once inside, it is 100-1000 times MORE dangerous than what is outside, considering we CAN and DO accumulate doses of the long term radiation. Once over 50 RADS/Rems, you WILL get radiation sickness !

See you are still in 'the battle' with the uneducated/I don't care group WB !

Good info, Eagle.
It is a bad situation all around.
Smart money says be pro-active and 'better safe than sorry'.

As time has passed, the focus has moved away from an other-wise 24/7 newsworthy event, to an occasional 10 second spot on MSM.
Apparently, an ongoing triple nuclear core meltdown doesn't get the ratings of a Lindsay Lohan court appearance..

Kinda depressing.

Re: Rain with 20,000,000 particles of radioactive iodine-131 per liter fell on US during post-Fukushima peak (VIDEO)
According to the presentation below by Simon Fraser University’s Kris Starosta, a rainwater sample measured in the Vancouver area had levels of radioactive iodine-131 at 10 becquerels/liter [Bq/l], which corresponds to 10^7 particles of I-131 per liter of water [10^7 = 10,000,000].

The post-Fukushima peak for I-131 in the U.S. appears to have been in the San Francisco Bay Area, where levels reached 19.85 Bq/l.

An I-131 level of 19.85 Bq/l detected in the Bay Area rain sample is equivalent to 19,850,000 particles of I-131 per liter.

Re: Rain with 20,000,000 particles of radioactive iodine-131 per liter fell on US during post-Fukushima peak (VIDEO)
Abstract

The impact of the Fukushima-derived radiostrontium (90Sr and 89Sr) on the western North Pacific Ocean has not been well established, although 90Sr concentrations recorded in surface seawater offshore of the damaged Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant were in some areas comparable to or even higher than (as those in December 2011 with 400 kBq m–3 90Sr) the 137Cs levels. The total amount of 90Sr released to the marine environment in the form of highly radioactive wastewater could reach about 1 PBq. Long-term series (1960–2010) of 90Sr concentration measurements in subtropical surface waters of the western North Pacific indicated that its concentration has been decreasing gradually with a half-life of 14 y. The pre-Fukushima 90Sr levels in surface waters, including coastal waters near Fukushima, were estimated to be 1 Bq m–3. To better assess the impact of about 4–5 orders of magnitude increased radiostrontium levels on the marine environment, more detail measurements in seawater and biota of the western North Pacific are required.

Fyi...

Neon signs, and granite both do actually release radioactivity.

However, the types of radioactivity they emitt are very different.

Bannannas have potasium, and give off levels of radioactivity as well.

Here is the difference, potasium emitts low level and non toxic radiation. The toxicolagy to plutonium and uranium actinides are horrific.

Actinides such as these (uranium and plutonium) release highly toxic radioactive elements throughout thier decay chains. Elements such as californium, strontium, iodine, cesium, polonium, neptunium, ect.

Most decay products of nuclear meltdown (over4000 known products of decay) are extremely toxic, and harmful to ingest, or even come into contact with.

These are no where near the same types of exposure as one would recieve from a bannanna.

Also particles are subject to marrying, it is well known that a single particle can show various isotope signitures.

So in short, were not actually measuring the other elements of radioactivity within the liter that was tested. We simply registered a base level of radioactivity, and simply choose the easiest element to find ( within the sample) plutonium an alpha actinide is extremely difficult to to analyse in a test, in comparison to iodide or cesium. Hence the report only identifies the primary "found isotope" and not the full spectrum of isotopes located within the sample.

If that isn't scary enough...

One should then consider just how many actual liters of rain were produced, in any selected regions on these dates...

The answer is likely beyond a googleplex of particles within any selected city west of the reactors...

Two and two make one in this case.

You are a known anti fukushima poster. Well not anti fukshima, you see you are actually known to discredit any article in which reflects data in which could impact the general global view of the fukushima crisis in a negative fashion.

You began posting in april 2011, and have used multiple user accounts, to discredit actual data from various colleges and universitys. Even in this article you attempt to discredit the source "enenews". However you fail to mention that although enenews hosts this news, that the actual data was in no way altered by the site, and was simply publicised on their website.

yep in far northern california we had a peculiar rain that left yellow powder residue everywhere within weeks of fuku- it stuck around on cars and trash cans for weeks- no one said a word. i only knew it was bad because of the timing and yellow substance after rain in cheronoblyl and japan- they said in japan it was 'pollen' lmfao- although it very much IS NOT FUNNY.
