Here is exactly how "Obamacare" will affect me and my family starting next year.....
I currently have health insurance with my company. It's a pretty good plan as health insurance plans go, I have heard of worse for sure.

My cost right now is $370 per month to cover myself and my entire family (split over two checks at $185 per check). The company-paid part of our insurance cost the company $15,500 per year, per employee (somewhat less for individuals only but not by much).

I am friends with the HR person as XYZ Corp (not the real name obviously) and this person told me that the company is seriously considering taking the $2000 per employee tax hit for not offering coverage, thereby forcing all of us into the government plan. In their words - "Yeah, this would suck and the coverage would not be nearly as good, but the company would save over $10,000 per employee."

My company has 86 employees. That's $860,000 per year the company would save by forcing us into Obamacare.

Many of us employees have talked about this and even considered walking off the job to at least demand most of the savings back in the form of an increase in pay (since it costs the company XX dollars to employ each of us already) but with the economy as bad as it is, it's risky. Mind you most of us are highly skilled and qualified and the company would take a huge productivity hit if we walked - but then again, saving $860,000 per year - maybe they could absorb it.

I firmly believe that Obamacare, and the current economic situation, are playing hand-in-hand intentionally.

Why did the Dems/Liberals pass Obamacare? To serve their constituents and give them freebies.

Why did the Reps/Conservatives pass Obamacare? To save their fat cat constituents money and pad their wallets.

We can't win with this shit.

Oh well, at least it'll be fun in the "end of days" when all these people are standing in judgement and have to justify themselves. That'll be fun.

I posted a long time ago this is what companies were going to do.

The fine for AT&T would have amounted to $2,000 per employee, costing the company a grand total of $600 million a year. Maintaining benefits, meanwhile, will cost the firm some $4.6 billion.

So they can save 4 billion a year and tell employees to get their own coverage.

Just what did government Think companies were going to do??

OP ~ my former company is considering the same thing. They have 900 employees! People were getting very scared when we found this out. I moved away and left the company, but friends of mine who still work there are saying that the rumors are still flying.

Worst part is, I know/knew it wasn't a rumor. I reported to the Controller of the company and he confirmed to me that it would cost the company too much money to cover all the employees under Obamacare.

Shit, meet fan.

Correct

Not a single GOP member of Congress voted for the massive economic stimulus package last year. And the most significant act of social legislation in decades – healthcare reform – passed this year without a single Republican vote, either. Leading party figures have promised no cooperation with Democrats for the rest of the year.

The Democrats and Obama own this 100% all the way through and through. They cannot blame anybody, not even Bush, for this.

It costs doctors money to see patients now. They don't get paid. They PAY to see patients now.

There is going to be a LOT of pissed off old people not getting any medical care. Doctors cannot afford to pay money to see patients. It was bad enough seeing them for free.

Right now, if they yank that bennie out from under you, they are saving $15,500 year per employee. They are not currently under any obligation to provide you with any coverage except to keep you around.

If they were going to screw you, why would they wait until there is a $2,00 per employee penalty when they could have been doing it all along?

NO, all companies will end up doing this to save money. My company can't afford insurance and neither can I. But now I will have to pay almost $700 a year in penalty. I'm still paying off medical bills that incurred a couple of years ago. Yes I am paying them. Noone else. I made a payment plan with the hospital to pay my own bills, not default and make society pay them. Obamacare will suck the little bit I have to put away into my savings for a rainy day. I paid my bills and am being punished. Obama care will hurt me.I really dislike him.

My private HSA insurance runs about $7000 a year for the wife and myself, but it is a high deductable plan ($2875 for each of us, $5750 combined) with no co-pays. We are lucky to be healthy at 50 and only need to be covered in case of something major. I can't imagine the hit those like the OP will take when you figure in a bunch of dependants.

Once the dupes figure out Obamacare is not free and they lose their current insurance there will be hell to pay.

My employer used to take care of 100% but when ObamaCare took over the rates my company was paying went up dramatically. The company used to pay $12000/yr for my wife and me but under OBC the rates went to $18000/yr.

This rate increase was planned under OBC because it made allowance for insurance providers to raise the rates up to 40% until 2014 after which they would be forced to reduce the rates to an acceptable level.

The reasoning behind a 40% rate hike for 3 years is to force companies who provide a Platinum level of coverage for their employees to leverage them to reduce the level of coverage to a more modest amount. This fits in nicely with the premise of OBC; which is to provide mediocre coverage for all people and ensure that no one is getting elite level coverage without paying thru the nose for it.

The last 2 years our family has gotten a refund on the amount we paid the insurance company. They have to use a certain amount of the amount of the policy to pay for health care. I never got a refund before from any insurance company. This is all going to lead to government run health care. It is inevitable.

All those who complain have never been without health insurance and been sick. You would think of this as a blessing.

Have you ever met a senior who didn't like their Medicare ? Just try and take it away from them. We should all have it.

Re: Here is exactly how "Obamacare" will affect me and my family starting next year.....
the bottom line is we are getting screwed over as usual. nothing will be FREE. people who think they are going to get anything for FREE got another thing coming. get ready for the screwing of your life. this is all about money and how the crooks can get in our pockets. oh, and good luck finding anybody to treat you. we dont even have enough doctors or nurse practioners. enjoy the long lines. this will be a miserable failure.

Not only that, they took over 700 billion dollars out of Medicare.

It costs doctors money to see patients now. They don't get paid. They PAY to see patients now.

There is going to be a LOT of pissed off old people not getting any medical care. Doctors cannot afford to pay money to see patients. It was bad enough seeing them for free.
