Yes, you can opt out of medicare bullshit. Romney and smart people do it already.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24097551

Please tell me how. My mother has excellent federal employee retirement insurance but STILL has to pay monthly into Medicare Parts A, B and D!

Social Security Administration says it is mandatory if you receive SS and Blue Cross/Blue Shield also says it must be the prmary insurer and will only pay AFTER Medicare does. And Medicare sets the rates that are approved and so forth.

The deduction is made before she even receives her check. Now a person can not file for Social Security and get more the older they are and the longer they wait but she is old enough that she had better get what she can while there is any left.

About $100 is deducted for something then some more for Part D. But the kicker is other insurance won't pay until AFTER Medicare does.

And we have to get most of her meds via mailorder from somthing called MedCo.

My sister and I try to keep up and make sure everything gets filed correctly but it's daunting and a lot to deal with never having done so before...

The $100 is for part B. I only have B. I cannot afford the drug coverage, which doesn't cover any of the natural meds I take every day. IF you have other insurance, depending on whether it is an employer or private, and several other factors, Medicare is secondary.

If you are on GLP and done enough research, well doctors aren't exactly your best friend and there's a cure for everything.... so why don't you opt out of any insurance and just be healthy? I haven't had health insurance for 2 years now and eating healthy and taking vitamins... doctors are worthless and just wanna take your money for dumb stuff that is curable without them going in and messing it up more for you becoming dependent on their worthless prescriptions that keep you staying sick with the band-aid method. WAKE THE FUCK UP YOU DON'T NEED THEM OR THEIR INSURANCE. just saying. its really upsetting to me.
 Quoting: FabulousOne

Thank you, I agree with you and can say I am over 50 and only had medical insurance for 2 years once in my whole adult life. That was twenty years ago. I haven't been to a doctor in all that time except the eye doctor and the dentist.

I read at Earth Clinic; I take tons of vitamins, minerals and supplements, I eat super healthy, I am very physically active, I studied up on herbs and essential oils and the medicinal qualities of food and spices too.

I don't drink or smoke, quit my bad habits long ago. I'm careful, and, I'm judgement-proof if anything ever happens that I can't possibly accommodate financially.

I've watched my older relatives (younger ones too now) get sucked into the medical system and increasing prescriptions and unsuccessful surgeries etc., and all I have to say about doctors, hospitals, and the whole death machine of the medical bureaucracy is, I don't want any part of it.

Repeat after me:

"Health is not something that you buy at the doctor's office."

All Obama Care will ever be is the last spike in the American dream that turns this country from a capitalist society, into a monarch, or totalitarian. You cannot have social security, pay roll tax, state, fed tax, and think any honest business, shall stay in business. lol. Its all over for this country that I love.

Re: Here is exactly how "Obamacare" will affect me and my family starting next year.....
I currently have health insurance with my company. It's a pretty good plan as health insurance plans go, I have heard of worse for sure.

My cost right now is $370 per month to cover myself and my entire family (split over two checks at $185 per check). The company-paid part of our insurance cost the company $15,500 per year, per employee (somewhat less for individuals only but not by much).

I am friends with the HR person as XYZ Corp (not the real name obviously) and this person told me that the company is seriously considering taking the $2000 per employee tax hit for not offering coverage, thereby forcing all of us into the government plan. In their words - "Yeah, this would suck and the coverage would not be nearly as good, but the company would save over $10,000 per employee."

My company has 86 employees. That's $860,000 per year the company would save by forcing us into Obamacare.

Many of us employees have talked about this and even considered walking off the job to at least demand most of the savings back in the form of an increase in pay (since it costs the company XX dollars to employ each of us already) but with the economy as bad as it is, it's risky. Mind you most of us are highly skilled and qualified and the company would take a huge productivity hit if we walked - but then again, saving $860,000 per year - maybe they could absorb it.

I firmly believe that Obamacare, and the current economic situation, are playing hand-in-hand intentionally.

Why did the Dems/Liberals pass Obamacare? To serve their constituents and give them freebies.

Why did the Reps/Conservatives pass Obamacare? To save their fat cat constituents money and pad their wallets.

We can't win with this shit.

Oh well, at least it'll be fun in the "end of days" when all these people are standing in judgement and have to justify themselves. That'll be fun.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1461956

True and False

Yes, it is less expensive for a company to offer the Universal care plan. And of course no employeer would ever refund their savings back to employees. Hence trickle down doesn't work.

Level of care worsens? False, no more PPO lists on which doctors you can see. You have the entire country of doctors to choose from.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1290769

I think the level of care will worsen as it already has for the elderly and VA patients.

Less doctors and nurses and less dentists, less control over your healthcare, less decisions made between you and your primary... These are not generally considered better than the old system.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22538971

Dont you get it! Instead of VA hospitals, they can NOW access every hospital in the world. The level of care will be going through the roof.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1290769

That's only if your insurance will still cover the same types of procedures, regardless of which doctor or hospital you go to.

I'm pretty sure there will be a list of what a patient can have done, and not have done, like if you're 50 years old and get Cancer. They'll decide if my earning power is worth saving my life. Figure I'd only have 10 more years to pay into the system, I'm going bet they'll say they won't pay for the treatment because it wouldn't be cost effective.

I'm also sure there will be X number of times you can go to the doctor a year, and once you pass the magic number, you'll have to pay full price, or you tough it out on your own or die.

This system is set up for the rich to keep more money in their pockets and instead of the Hospitals taking the hit for all the uninsured and illegals, the responsibility will fall on the lower class.

The problems come in if you get mangled up and/or lose an appendage or want to try to get it reattached. There are a lot of reasons to go to a doctor/hospital that has nothing to do with keeping healthy. Accidents happen and you will need a surgeon no matter how many vitamins you have popped. And that costs money and that is why insurance can be needed.

I agree. The best thing I ever did was dump my insurance 4 years ago. The monthly was 650.00 (self employed). I found myself going to more and more drs. I was diagnosed w/ a thyroid condition, chronic fatigue, hypertension, high cholesterol, border line diabetic, menopausal, allergies. I was on 8 different meds. I am a nurse and had been raised on the medical model. One day I opened my insurance bill and found it was going up again. At that point I thankfully had a moment of clarity. Big pharma based medicine would leave me dependent on more and more drugs, managing only the symptoms of of my increasing ailments. Physically I felt like shit. Depressed, fatigued, aches and pain, weight gain (esp belly),constantly hungry, tired. Up until age 47 I'd been relatively healthy. The 3 years of increasing Dr visits found me increasingly sick. I went to a naturopath and had a completely different experience. Within 5 months I was big pharma drug free. I feel great now.. lots of energy, pain free and healthy. I have done my own research into alternative medicine and rather then finding it a weak add on to main stream health care, I have found it just the opposite. There are so many effective, easy natural CURES out there! I have since gotten catastrophic insurance only (very cheap) ,in case I get into a horrible crash or fall off a building. The last thing I'd want today is a main stream doc to treat me for any disease or illness... I would refuse even if they paid me. If you insist on standard care, I suggest you try to find an osteopath in your plan and take them as your primary doc. 'Obama Care', what a fucking joke, but so is what we currently have. Don't be fooled. The whole main stream health care system is first and foremost about profit. Healthy is not the goal.

It makes no sense, and I'm sure there's elderly out there that aren't able to do the numbers, so they've been getting screwed. Open Enrollment is next month, so good luck.

I posted a long time ago this is what companies were going to do.

The fine for AT&T would have amounted to $2,000 per employee, costing the company a grand total of $600 million a year. Maintaining benefits, meanwhile, will cost the firm some $4.6 billion.

So they can save 4 billion a year and tell employees to get their own coverage.

Just what did government Think companies were going to do??

Always the unintended consequences.......

The administration is counting on companies doing this, it is the only way Obummercare will work.

I don't believe Obamacare covers forign hospitals (and they would have to accept it first anyway).

I had a frank discussion with my PC and he doesn't like it one bit, nor does many of his colleges. Your crusade to make the Obama Tax appear fruitful for the nation is an utter and complete failure and flies in the face of facts. Your fictitious world doesn't exist and I don't watch Fox News, so please don't go there. (Well, I do watch it once in a blue moon if something big is happening, but I tend to channel surf so that doesn't count!)
 Quoting: D'Light

My doc doesn't like it, either. If you think about it most docs are most likely republicans aka Obama haters. Not a good year to see doctors, they are all too political and upset this year. Next year they may get mad and leave and then we'll have H1Bvisa docs from India or perhaps more Muslims coming in to take care of our bodies.

I personally know DOZENS of Drs. who have been working towards retiring in the next few years as obummerkill goes in to effect.

Drs. are even turning their own kids away from a career in medicine because they most likely will not make as much money from their lifelong career, as it will cost them for the schooling.

Yep. Definitely an upside down world.

Dont you get it! Instead of VA hospitals, they can NOW access every hospital in the world. The level of care will be going through the roof.

And I work with Physicians, they ALL want it.

I think there's a shortage of physicians now, and when they start leaving when obamacare starts, the practices and hospitals will be forced to hire lower qualified professionals. heheh, All the freaking doctors will be out of Costa Rica Medical Schools, where you can get a "D" average and still get a medical license. Oh yeah Obama, this is going to work just wonderful! We'll have lots of services available to choose from, but the freaking doctor won't know how to do it correctly. lol

President Obama has created 4.4 million private sector jobs. He has brought this economy back from the brink and he has not had much help. It is time to continue the journey "forward" folks. He will cut the deficit in his second term and continue this robust job growth and keep the economic recovery going.

OP, you said you currently pay $375 a month for you and your family.

I missed the part where you said how much it would cost you a month under the reformed health care act.

You also were vague at how much coverage of hospital bills and medication your company insurance helped you pay. And you really didn't mention how much the reformed health insurance would help you pay.

Both Romney and Obama plan similar reforms, so why are you complaining about this if nothing can be done about it?

I posted a long time ago this is what companies were going to do.

The fine for AT&T would have amounted to $2,000 per employee, costing the company a grand total of $600 million a year. Maintaining benefits, meanwhile, will cost the firm some $4.6 billion.

So they can save 4 billion a year and tell employees to get their own coverage.

Just what did government Think companies were going to do??

Always the unintended consequences.......

was not unintended. intention was to put corporate interests ahead of people.

OP ~ my former company is considering the same thing. They have 900 employees! People were getting very scared when we found this out. I moved away and left the company, but friends of mine who still work there are saying that the rumors are still flying.

Worst part is, I know/knew it wasn't a rumor. I reported to the Controller of the company and he confirmed to me that it would cost the company too much money to cover all the employees under Obamacare.

Shit, meet fan.

And yet , 1/2 the jackasses there will AGAIN vote for Obama.
