Also those tins about the size of cake that you get cookies and stuff in around X-Mas are good places to store stuff. Not as big but you can put that extra camera, usb drive, etc. in one.

Re: Just thinking, if an EMP or CME....
OP, I wanted to get back with you about "airplanes falling out of the sky."

I was in a meeting today with one of the Air Force's lead EMP experts, and I put this question to him straight up: "If a high altitude nuclear EMP event were to occur, would all commercial airplanes fall out of the sky?"

The answer: "Probably not a single one. There would be some upset circuitry that would need a reset, and perhaps communications and GPS would stop working, but the aircraft itself would remain flyable."

Plus, planes can still fly without electronics. They wouldn't navigate well or be able to communicate or know how much fuel they have... but throttle and flight controls are all hydraulic and engine powered.
I am a disciple of my mind.

Well that proves it! rofl

William J. Forster also consulted experts when writing his book and he came up with the completely opposite answer. The rotors and cholk are not manually connected to the aircraft, instead they send electronic signals which tell the rotors when to operate and in which way.
Now I agree they wouldn't fall out of the sky like rocks, but they wouldn't be able to land them or navigate them either. They would glide for a while, and then crash in random places.
I have to say I'd trust Bill who spent years researching this over someone on a forum who just simply feels like proving everyone else wrong...

Oh, I didn't "prove" anything. Neither has anyone else. What I did was to state a view different from the OP. The defensiveness of some is amazing.

You are entitled to your opinion. Enjoy it.

All I know for sure is that the only plane I would feel comfortable being in if either were to occur is this one.

what about that flight (which was featured on some news show) that completely lost power over the atlantic and glided for a long time and eventually landed relatively safely at one of the azores islands??

Now you have me confused. Except for the last one all your posts state that all the planes would be OK Now you say that Air Force One is the only plane you would feel comfortable in?

Except my last post didn't say what you surmised. I was the field test engineer for the E4-B EMP testing, and I would definitely feel safe on the President's plane.
