Heres some proof for ya

A hacked server in Germany fed malicious code to unsuspecting Internet Explorer users at an unknown number of Web sites for several hours over the weekend, a banner ad-serving company acknowledged Monday.
The affected Web sites included trusted sites in the U.K., the Netherlands, and Sweden, according to the Internet Storm Center of the SANS Institute.

I wasn't saying I didn't believe you. That was more a comment about people getting silly angry about nothing.

I would not consider this nothing. If you work in IT you have to fuck around with this shit and its annoying as hell. See the post from AC 4420584. Some common sense and the IT world would be a much better place for all of us. Nuff said.
"The world will soon wake up to the reality that everyone is broke and can collect nothing from the bankrupt, who are owed unlimited amounts by the insolvent, who are attempting to make late payments on a bank holiday in the wrong country, with an unacceptable currency, against defaulted collateral, of which nobody is sure who holds title."

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

Google Chrome is no alternative.

They will force you soon to create a Google account and login so you can use the browser - mark my words.

Google wants total insight in who uses their products and how.

No thanks.

this.
PLUS, chrome tracks everything you visit.

[ah, well, ANY browther does.., but chrome is waaay better at this]

also, why would anyone rely on gov to protect them from 'hackers'? since when is gov your 'friend'??...

Firefox Mozilla is no better...
Have you ever tried to remove all the SSL certificates from Firefox? (no matter if Windows or Ubuntu)
For example, in Ubuntu 12.04, the certificates are stored here:
/usr/share/ca-certificates/mozilla/
Close Firefox, go to the above directory and delete all the files.
After that, Start Firefox, go to Edit/Preferences/Advanced/View_Certificates and click on the first tab - “Your Certificates”
If you (still) see any certificates, select them (Ctrl + left_click to select more than one) an press Delete.
Do this until you clear the “Your Certificates” list. (NOTE that you should click/select for deletion only the certificates and NOT their Category_name; Certificates are indented a little to the right)
Next, go to the “People” tab and delete everything (if there is any cert. Left); Then to “Servers”, “Authorities” and finally “Others”.
Ok, now you might think “There are no more certificates”.
Well, restart Firefox and go again to the Edit/Preferences/Advanced/View_Certificates/Others
and you'll see 10 certificates that are still present (although you deleted everything!):

Now take a look at THIS site (that has an UnErasable “Builtin Object Token”) :

Now pay attention to that guy because HE KNOWS things...

I urge everyone to stop using IE. I don't understand why anyone would use that crap anymore.
 Quoting: Little Fish

What do you propose Firefox that is leaky as a s**t!
Or safari.. because apple we can trust.

Or maybe konqueror.

The only safe browser i know is lynx but its shit to use because there is no support for flash or any other css, java.. etc..

And btw i bet everyone has some program installed on his pc wich could be exploited.

so yea who cares...

What shocks me is that anyone actually uses IE to begin with. The first thing I do when I set up a computer is download Firefox and then tweak it.

Just when you think you're safe!

Search Pwn2Own!

(Pwn2Own is a computer hacking contest held annually at the CanSecWest Security Conference)

For 2012 the rules were changed to a capture-the-flag style competition with a point system. The new format caused Charlie Miller, successful at the event in past years, to not attend.

At Pwn2Own, Chrome was successfully exploited for the first time. VUPEN declined to reveal how they escaped the sandbox, saying they would sell the information.
Internet Explorer 9 on Windows 7 was successfully exploited next.
Firefox was the third browser to be hacked using a zero day exploit.

Safari on Mac OS X Lion was the only browser left standing at the conclusion of the zero day portion of pwn2own.

Versions of Safari that were not fully patched and running on Mac OS X Snow Leopard were compromised during the CVE portion of pwn2own.
