misleading thread title is misleading.
nowhere in the article did it state that a single restaurant ever demanded 30% tips
Quoting: John Everytard Was in South Beach last summer. The restaurants, in addition to the exorbinant prices, add a 30% tip to your bill. If that is not bad enough, there is still a line for additional tip. I always tip 20%, having worked as a waitress to get through college, but a forced 30% is nuts! Glad I cook most of the time. As an ex waiter I almost always tip 20% or higher.. The bitch of it is.. most restaurants "pool" tips.. so your wait person never gets the tip they have actually earned..
